“It’s your payment. Do you forget what I’ve said?” He looked serious.
She looked at the phone and nodded later, and ended the topic. “Fine, then we are quit.”
They shall be all square from now on.
He gave her a perplexing smile.
Hector couldn’t join in their conversation.
So, he stood up. “OK. I have to go. It’s late.”
Then he glanced at Marshall.
Marshall understood what he meant.
But he somehow chose to ignore him and said, “See you.”
“You go, too. It’s late.” Katherine burst into laughter and had to drive him away.
“I’ll go after drinking the tea.” He lowered his head to see the tea.
Hector turned his gaze and said to Katherine, “Then see you.”
He believed that Marshall wouldn’t bother Katherine for long.
Katherine was not a pushover after all.
She saw Hector off. They stood at the entrance of the yard. Hector told her to have a good rest and lock the windows.
Marshall was sitting on the sofa. He took Katherine’s phone.
She didn’t lock the screen.
“If you need my help, just tell me. It’ll be fine.” She said thanks to his care and added.
“Nothing. Let’s talk next time. Good bye.” He smiled.
She nodded. “Take care.”
She turned back until she couldn’t see him.
Her smile disappeared.
She noticed Marshall was not in the living room when she walked to the door.
“How could he disappear so soon?” She cursed him secretly.
She entered the house and called his name.
There’s no answer.
She looked up, only to find the light at upstairs was on.
She hurried to go upstairs.
As expected, Marshall was in her room.
He was looking around by the bed.
She entered her bedroom and said with an disgruntle tone. “What are you doing here?”
He turned around without a word.
He was here to see if there was any hint of other men.
But apparently, the answer was no.
Though he believed that she wouldn’t be seeing another man, he had to come over to have a check because there’s a Hector who apparently had a crush on her.
He walked towards her.
She stepped back and said, “What’re you gonna do?”
He walked to close her, so close that his face would touch hers if he bent over.
She stepped back. “What do you want? Don’t close to me.”
“Why do you blush?” He smiled.
She retorted, “Because I’m angry with you.”
“It’s late night. Aren’t you afraid of letting Hector in?”
“I also let you in.” She snorted.
“How could he compare with me?” He sneered.
“You’re right,” she continued, “You’re my ex-husband, but he might be my next man.”
She choked his words. He resigned to nod. “Don’t talk back to me like that.”
She kept retorting him.
“Can’t I retort since you’re wrong?” she said coldly.
He had never known she had a sharp tongue. As a slick talker in business, he was defeated.
When he raised his hand, she hurried to step back, covering her chin and neck.
