CEO Proposed to His Ex-wife 99 Times novel Chapter 303

Katherine immediately asked Kyle to come to her place.

Marshall was sitting with his legs crossed. When he hung up, he commented, “Rosalie is getting more and more efficient with this kind of thing.”

Because the last time she had to fish Kyle out of a police station, she wasn’t nearly as quick as today.

Katherine scowled. “You have to investigate carefully into this and find out if it was really the Bennett do.”

Marshall hummed in agreement. “Rest assured that I won’t let them off the hook easily since they got you involved this time.”

Katherine stared at Marshall with her lips pursed. She really couldn’t figure him out. Why would he always sound like he was insinuating when he spoke? That was such a weird, tricky feeling, and she had felt it since last night. She’d sensed something wrong with Marshall when he came to visit yesterday, but had thought that she was overthinking it. But no. Now she could be sure that she hadn’t misinterpreted anything, since Marshall was clearly still not behaving like his usual self right now.

The smile on Marshall’s face only grew bigger after he looked away.

Hector’s expressions, on the other hand, only cooled down. He could tell that Marshall had intended to sting him when the latter man made that little speech; of course, Marshall was speaking at least some of his own mind, too.

None of them spoke after that, and Peter got out of the house to make phone calls in the front yard. To look into Marcus Russell, Marshall naturally didn’t have to do it himself; it would suffice to have Peter make arrangements for the investigation.

After Peter finished his calls, he didn’t come inside straight away, but waited in the yard instead until Kyle drove to Katherine’s place himself. Clearly still fuming, Kyle continued to grumble as he got out of the car.

Marshall turned his head to look in Kyle’s direction. Speaking to nobody in particular, he commented, “His gold chain…”

Tsking, Katherine interrupted, “Right?! I find that thing hideous, too!”

Marshall decided to bite down the words he was about to say. Kyle had always had unique tastes, so the signature gold chain was an understandable styling choice.

Kyle entered the living room angrily, grabbed a glass of water, and downed the liquid in its entirety at one go, not caring if it had belonged to somebody else.

“What happened?” asked Katherine as she stood up, “what did those people say at the police station?”

“Bloody pain in the ass,” said Kyle, hands on his hips as he added, “the more sober ones among them blamed everything on Marcus Russell, who was still high as a kite when I left.”

Watching Kyle, Marshall asked, “Have you pissed anyone off recently?”

Kyle made a bitter face. “That’s a difficult question, cuz I don’t even know exactly how many people I’ve managed to piss off.”

Marshall rolled his eyes. “Recently, as in the past few days. You should at least know who you’ve pissed off during the past few days, right?”

Goggling, Kyle looked like he was getting it. “Well, if you phrase it like that, then I can tell you confidently that I pissed off the Henderson chicks.”

“Who?” asked Marshall, confused.

“Who else but Clara Henderson and her mom?” replied Kyle as he sat down on the sofa, “Just today I clashed with them. Fresh from the oven, you know.”

Katherine was reminded of the incident, too. However, she began to frown. “It couldn’t have been them, could it? As unseemly as the Hendersons are, they couldn’t have done something so despicable, right?”

Not to mention that it would be almost impossible for them to retaliate in the afternoon, when they had only been offended in the morning. The Hendersons wouldn’t reasonably have been able to arrange for all of this.

Kyle thought about it and only grew more confident in his suspicion. “You know what, it’s probably them. Couple of devious witches they are, trying to get back at me after I gave them a good talking-to today.”

“So you clashed with the Hendersons today?” asked Marshall as he looked at Kyle.
