Zoe shot a reproachful glance at Nash.
Nina, aware of the matchmaking gathering, patted Zoe’s shoulder comfortingly. "Alright, Nash had good intentions that just went wrong. You must not have slept well. Go take a nap, and I'll cook something nice for lunch to treat you."
"You're the best," Zoe said, giving Nina a quick kiss on the cheek before happily running upstairs.
Nina noticed an unusual glint of amusement in Nash's eyes, almost like a shrewd hunter savoring his strategy.
She wrapped her arm around his and leaned in closer. "Mr. York, is there something good you're not telling me?"
With Nina in his arms, Nash couldn't resist. He pulled her in for a deep kiss, leaving her breathless.
"Are you going to tell me or not?" she demanded, a bit flustered at how easily she still lost her breath during a kiss.
Nash leaned in and whispered in her ear, "The one who saved Zoe last night was Eugene Lowe."
Eugene Lowe? Nina thought for a moment before remembering the Lowe family. He was known for being a bit of a troublemaker, but how did that connect to anything good?
Just as she was about to ask Nash, she saw the smirk on his face and suddenly understood.
"So, our dear aunt is attracting the attention of a younger man, huh? But could there be more to it? A scheme, maybe?"
One guy like Michael was enough to deal with, and now another man from a powerful family? Even they might not be able to handle it.
Nash wasn’t worried at all. "I doubt it. The Lowes are far too wealthy to need any underhanded tactics to gain more. If there’s any plot, it’s probably not about money. Maybe it’s just fate for them."
