Lydia was so shocked she didn’t even know how to react. The news was completely unexpected.

The doctor quickly prescribed folic acid, and neither of them said a word until they got into the car. Once seated, Quincy finally glanced at Lydia, clearly trying to contain his emotions.

"You…" he began, but Lydia cut him off, her voice betraying her nervousness. “I had no idea either. My period didn’t come for a month, but my cycle has always been irregular, so I didn’t think much of it.”
