“Hold on, I have something to announce,” Noah suddenly raised his hand. “I’ve already secured the bid for South Haven District.”
Everyone froze in surprise.
Even Jamie couldn’t hide the flicker of astonishment in her eyes. The bid for South Haven District was already locked down?
Hearing the murmurs in the room, Noah propped his elbow on the table, resting his chin on his hand. He tilted his head back with a deliberate smirk. “Oh, you didn’t know? Looks like I forgot to mention it. But everyone should know about something this significant. Don’t you think so?”
As he spoke, his gaze shifted directly to Ben. The tension in the room thickened instantly, suffocating enough to make everyone want to bolt for the door.
Jamie’s concern grew as she glanced at Ben.
“Then move on to the next project. South Haven District isn’t the only one project that the company is working on,” Ben replied smoothly, his tone calm and composed, without a hint of hesitation.
Noah’s smile faltered, his expression stiffening.
Jamie felt a wave of relief wash over her. Ben had handled the situation far better than she had anticipated, shutting Noah down without missing a beat.
The meeting resumed, but the awkwardness now shifted entirely to Noah. After his earlier boast was brushed aside so effortlessly, it was clear who was left red-faced.

As the meeting adjourned, Jamie stayed behind to gather the documents, falling a step or two behind Bem. He hadn’t gone far, his slower pace almost as though he were waiting for her.
Just as she was about to catch up, Noah called her from behind.
“Jamie, I’m still without a capable and attentive secretary. The latest project is proving tricky, so why not ask my dear brother to let you work for me instead?”
Another attempt to poach her. Jamie couldn’t help but wonder if Noah truly believed persistence alone would win her over.
Too bad for him, she wasn’t buying it. “No need. I thought I made myself clear last time. I don’t want to be anywhere except by Ben’s side.”
Seeing her about to leave, Noah chuckled darkly. “Do you think that means Ben will marry you? Dream on. Our father would never approve of something like that.”
Jamie paused mid-step and turned to face him. “If this is your way of convincing me, you’re wasting your time.”
“Don’t act like you don’t care. Come on. How could you not?” Noah’s disbelief was written all over his face.
