In the medical field, the association referred to here was an elite organization. Its members were either highly reputable figures like Professor Zeller or individuals with exceptionally powerful connections, like Harley.
The majority of the association fell into two categories. The first was well-connected individuals who used their influence to secure their positions. The second was a rare group who stayed out of cliques and politics, dedicating themselves solely to their craft. These individuals were admitted into the association based purely on merit and skill.
Wilfred had once belonged to this latter group before he chose to leave the association.
Karina had learned all this inadvertently from Wilfred, whose brief mentions of the association had piqued her curiosity for a long time. Finally catching sight of the association’s forum, her eyes instinctively lit up.
But then her gaze landed on a highlighted post in bold red letters:
“How Can an Unknown Nobody Pull Off a Groundbreaking Surgery? Click to Uncover the Truth!”
Yvette quickly snatched her phone back. “Don’t mind it. Clickbait like that is everywhere. It’s nothing new.”
The reluctance in Yvette’s actions spoke volumes. Karina didn’t push for the phone but could already guess the post’s content wasn’t anything positive.
She let out a soft sigh, her voice tinged with disappointment. “I used to think the association might be respectable, but this just wiped out any hope I had. Letting people post garbage like that? It says a lot about what kind of place it is.”
Yvette’s eyes widened in alarm. She quickly glanced around and clamped a hand over Karina’s mouth. “Are you crazy? Saying something like that out loud? You’ve got some nerve!”
Karina pulled her hand away. “Why shouldn’t I say it? I performed that surgery with my own skill. And now they’re spreading malicious lies about me behind my back? I didn’t even click on the post—God knows what filth is inside.”
Even the most patient person would be angered by such slander, and Karina was far from the patient type. Or maybe, she thought, it was years of suppressing her temper that had finally worn thin.
