“Mom, are you picking on Rose again? I knew nothing good would come out of her being with you! Did you make her do all your work? And she did it the entire night! Why are you being like this? Does it make you glad to be a wicked mother-in-law?”

Sydney remained calm in the face of her son’s accusations.

“What do you mean, wicked mother-in-law? Just listen to yourself. She’s my daughter now. Can’t I teach my own daughter a thing or two? She’s been going through my documents since yesterday afternoon, and didn’t get a wink last night. I’m very proud of my daughter for being so resilient and hardworking.”

“You’re doing this on purpose. I’m heading over right now. Stop bullying her!”

“Why are you coming over? Do you want to blow things up and get Rosalie caught in the middle and feel bad about it?”

Theodore said coldly, “Should I continue allowing you to harass her, then? I’m going to take her away from you!”

“How do you know that she’s not doing it willingly? She was the one who asked for the documents. Ask her yourself if you don’t believe me. Quit thinking that I’m the one bullying her. You didn’t see it for yourself, but I even made dinner for her last night.”

Sydney toyed with her fingernails, her tone bitter and jealous.

“Oh, is that so? In that case, you helped her and made her stay up the entire night. Her body is in such a weak condition, what if she falls ill? Can you bear the responsibility of that happening?”

“Why can’t I?!” Sydney’s brows furrowed as anger rose in her chest. “If she falls ill, I’ll take care of her and spend money to treat her. Just look at how concerned you sound! People might think she’s still your wife!”

“You…” Theodore was burning with rage.

“I’m going to have breakfast, I’m hanging up. If you want to come, hurry up. We can have a good fight and let your ex-wife see how our relationship has deteriorated once again. That’ll definitely sadden her, since she tried so hard to improve our relationship.”

Sydney sighed as she hung up.

She was in a good mood as she hummed a song and walked into the kitchen with an apple in hand, getting ready to prepare breakfast.
