The people seated at the back of the car exchanged glances.
After pondering for a moment, the man said over the phone, “500 thousand in cash, not a cent less.”
“Deal!” Christopher said, “Give me the address. I’ll immediately send the cash, and you’ll hand her to us on the spot.”
Upon seeing him agree so readily, the man changed his mind. “Seems like you really dote on this niece of yours. I want to change the price.”
“Don’t push your luck,” Christopher said coldly.
“What do you mean by that? Your niece is very valuable. How could she only be worth 500 thousand dollars? I want five million.”
“Sure, I’ll give it to you.” Christopher just wanted Rosalie to be safe.
The man was in disbelief over how easy-going Christopher was. “You’re agreeing so readily to my request. Are you calling the police?”
“I have plenty of money. The only thing I care about right now is my niece’s safety,” Christopher said as he suppressed his anger. “No matter how much you want, the premise is that my niece remains unharmed. Since you abducted her, you should know her background and should have been smarter. She has a bunch of powerful and influential people backing her up. If I find her harmed in any way after she comes back home, I guarantee you that not just you, but all your family and children will be implicated.”
“Damn it, are you threatening me?” the man said furiously.
“I’m just talking terms with you,” Christopher said. “I trust you’re a smart man. If you’re doing this just for the money, there’s no need to go to such extremes. I’ll give you the money, and you’ll hand her over at once. You flee, and this will be the end of it. There’s no need to blow things up in the heat of the moment. Smart kidnappers always keep their hostages safe. That’s the only way they can get the ransom money.”
“Dude, don’t talk to him for too long. We could get into an accident,” someone else reminded the man.
The man pondered for a moment before saying, “I’ll contact you again. If you dare call the police on us, not only will I kill your niece, but I’ll even let my brothers loose on her before I do so!”
With that, he hung up and smashed the phone with a hammer before throwing it out of the car window.
“Haha,” the man sneered as he grabbed Rosalie’s hair. “You're worth so much money. Your aunt gave us a huge gift.”
Rosalie felt a piercing pain in her skull, but she didn’t yell out loud. She knew that the more agitated she got and the louder she yelled, the more savage these people would get. It was hard to tell what they would do to her.
The stench from the man’s mouth was so bad, it made Rosalie retch. She suppressed her disgust and said, “Yes, I am a huge gift to you. If I remain unharmed, you’ll get lots of money.”
“Hmph.” The man released his grip over Rosalie’s hair. “Bitch, you’re doomed if we don’t get the money.”

The readers' comments on the novel: Chasing My Pregnant Wife (Rosalie and Theodore)
Another garbled story with lots of gibberish. Absolute rubbish. I got to chapter 26 and can't anymore...
Too many people involve.. sigh~ this is like the most angst novel i've read.....
I just wish one thing...that the writer will not bring too many unnecessary and unrealistic twists, too many misunderstanding, miscommunication that gives the reader the hint not to continue with the novel. In the long run, We lost our interest in this kind of unending plot....
Thanks for the update !...
