After the call connected, Rosalie heard a voice that sounded so achingly familiar, it made her feel sad.

“Hello, who’s this?”

Rosalie tried her best to suppress her sobs and took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down. “Grandma, it’s me.”

No matter how hard she tried to hide it, her voice still sounded hoarse.

“Rose,” Rebecca recognized Rosalie’s voice. “What’s the matter? Are you ill? You didn’t try contacting me over the past few days. The last time after you went home, I called you, but you never answered my call. I was so worried! Theo called me at that time. He said he was with you, and that your phone was faulty. Was that true?”

Rosalie nodded. “Yes, Grandma. I contacted Theo after I reached home. That’s why I was with him. I forgot to tell you about it, so sorry.”
