Chapter 599 Parasite
The three–day and three–night banquet held previously had completely bound the Langford family and Emrys together.
It was all my fat!
Samuel felt utterly desolate.
At this moment, while quietly observing the changing expressions of the Langford family members, Emrys revealed a playful smile. He said, “I agree with them. My friendship with the Langford family is only superficial. I did kill Gilbert, and it has nothing to do with anyone from the Langford family.”
“Huh?”
When everyone heard Emrys‘ words, their expressions momentarily froze.
The Langford family was clearly an incredibly opportunistic fence–sitter. Seeing that Emrys had gotten into serious trouble, they hastily distanced themselves from him. This kind of behavior was extremely distasteful.
Emrys should have despised them, so why was he speaking up for them voluntarily?
It was truly baffling.
They couldn’t understand.
All that mattered was to clarify the relationship.
In a hurry, Teagan said, “Mr. Bernard, you heard it too. Emrys himself admitted that he is only a superficial friend to our Langford family. If you have any grievances, feel free to vent them on him, but we beg you to spare our Langford family.”
Bernard’s face was grim, his eyes filled with murderous intent as they stared at Emrys. He let out a cold laugh. “You certainly have guts. I’ll make sure to leave your body intact later.”
He slowly turned his neck, his gaze falling upon Samuel.
“The root of this matter lies with your beloved granddaughter. If you want me to spare your Langford family, then arrange for your precious granddaughter to marry my son, Gil.”
Bernard knew clearly that his son, Gilbert, was fond of Blanche.
The trap set for Emrys this time, though partly out of revenge, was primarily intended to use Emrys as a threat against Blanche.
Hence, Bernart stated that there was no mistake in saying that Blanche was the root cause.
Upon hearing these words, the expressions of Samuel, Alpheus, and Alayna changed dramatically in an instant.
Gilbert was already dead, yet Bernard was still insisting on having Blanche marry him. Didn’t this imply they were to have a posthumous marriage?
This was going to ruin Blanche!
Naturally, Blanche’s mother couldn’t bear it. She knelt before Bernard, pleading with him through her tears and sniffles.
Bernard turned a blind eye.
Samuel and Alpheus also had grim expressions on their faces.
On the contrary, the other members of the Langford family, such as Teagan and Eloise, were secretly pleased. As long as Bernard was willing to spare them, they couldn’t care less whether Blanche lived or died.
Moreover, this disaster had originally arisen because of Blanche.
Beauty brings disaster indeed!
It seemed as though Teagan had forgotten that if it weren’t for the cunning plan he suggested to Gilbert, things wouldn’t have escalated to this point.
“Dad, things are beyond repair now. You wouldn’t want our entire Langford family to be thrown into the dungeon by Mr. Bernard for harboring a criminal, would you?”
“Yes, Dad. Once you enter the dungeon of the Martial Arts Alliance, it’s not easy to get out. We have to make sacrifices. Sending Blanche to enter into a posthumous marriage is heartbreaking, but we really have no other choice!”
Teagan and Eloise resorted to a desperate strategy, kneeling before Samuel.
The other members of the Langford family also knelt before Samuel, hoping that he would be decisive enough to abandon Blanche and preserve the Langford family.

Samuel’s face was etched with pain as he looked at the members of the Langford family before him, sighing helplessly. He then turned his gaze to Blanche. Seeing her indifferent expression only deepened his heartache.
How could he possibly bring himself to utter such words?
