Chapter 809 Fifth Layer
The fifth layer was much more terrifying than the fourth.
Cameron didn’t even dare to speak loudly. He cautiously asked, “Um… buddy, can we talk?”
Originally, Emrys had intended to proceed directly to the fifth layer. Hearing Cameron’s words, he smirked, “Talk about what? Do students from Cloudmist Academy usually negotiate during competitions?”
“No, buddy, you can’t compare it like that. Our usual contests are about combat strength or understanding of martial arts techniques, and we stop when one yields. But this Thundercloud Marsh, it won’t stop when we yield!”
Cameron wore a bitter expression on his face.
This was hardly a competition as it was clearly a matter of life and death!
Emrys asked with a smile, “What do you want to negotiate?”
“Thinking that Emrys had agreed, Cameron immediately replied, “I was wrong before. I shouldn’t have provoked you. So, I apologize here, buddy. And I admit, I’m not as courageous as you. I admit defeat. Let’s stop here. You don’t need to enter the fifth layer as it’s dangerous.”
Cameron’s move was ingenious.
Although outsiders could clearly see the scene unfolding, they couldn’t hear their conversation. Cameron apologized and admitted defeat, but only Emrys knew about it.
He would only lose face in front of Emrys.
As long as both of them returned right now, the people outside would naturally think they had a tie and dared not step into the fifth layer.
This was the best solution Cameron could think of for now.
And since he had apologized and admitted defeat to Emrys, he believed Emrys would agree to this outcome. After all, the fifth layer was really dangerous, and Emrys had no need to take such risks.
While Cameron had this thought, to his surprise, Emrys said with a mysterious smile,
1/3
“Buddy, if you’re afraid, you can leave now. But I’m definitely going to continue on.”
Emrys had his reasons for continuing, but from Cameron’s perspective, Emrys’s statement was a clear refusal to give him any respect. It was as if he was determined to establish a winner and a loser between them.
“It’s just a competition; why risk your life?”
Cameron was gradually growing frustrated, unable to comprehend why Emrys would act in such a way. Despite the significant risk, Emrys was determined to make him lose and wanted everyone to know that he had lost.
This was clearly being ruthless and unreasonable.
Cameron had never encountered such an unforgiving person before.
Emrys ignored Cameron’s increasing annoyance and didn’t bother to explain. Instead, he simply turned and stepped into the fifth layer.
Cameron couldn’t help but curse, “D*mn lunatic, let’s see how you die in there!”
He dared not venture into the fifth layer.
“The fifth layer!”
“That kid actually ventured into the fifth layer. I thought they were just competing on the fourth layer to see who could stay longer!”
