Chapter 899 Convincing The Crowd
As Caden’s gaze swept over the crowd, he noticed everyone silently nodding in agreement. A hint of a smile involuntarily crept onto his lips.
What he said was indeed true. Entrusting a young man, who was just at the early–phase of Foundation Stage, with the responsibility of leading the three sects, was probably beyond his capabilities.
The crowd also thought time was needed for the inheritor to mature. Only once he had developed the necessary skills to make decisions could he be entrusted with the position of the sect leader.
In truth, what Caden said made a lot of sense.
“Rodney, as well as the elders standing beside him, previously shared the same thoughts. But do you know why these individuals suddenly changed their minds and decided to support Tigger’s appointment today?”
“Why?” someone asked.
“That’s because they, these individuals, have struck a sordid deal with Tigger Tigger has agreed to pass on the secret techniques he has cultivated to people like Rodney under the condition that they would support his ascension to power. I said it before. There’s no shame in practicing secret techniques, and it is only a matter of time before Tigger takes over as the sect leader. All of this could have been done openly and honorably. Yet, they chose to conduct their dealings through underhanded means, and that’s what truly infuriated me. In his haste to assume power, Tigger resorted to bribery, unwilling to wait even a few short years. This demonstrated his impatience and inability to handle significant responsibilities. How could we dare entrust him with the stewardship of the Three Sword Sects? For the sake of a secret technique. Rodney and others accepted Tigger’s deal, carelessly handing over the sword sects to the still immature Tigger. Such irresponsible behavior, they simply don’t take our sword sects seriously! Moreover, practicing secret techniques is inherently fraught with drawbacks. Perhaps in the short term, our sword sects‘ overall strength could experience a significant boost. However, such shortsighted behavior is undoubtedly depleting the future energy movement of our sword sects. How is this acceptable? So, was I wrong to accuse them of betraying their country for personal glory? Frankly, my heart aches so much!” As Caden. continued to speak, his emotions escalated. His words became increasingly impassioned, his indignation intensified, and his heartache deepened. His emotional delivery was incredibly on point.
With a roar, Devon roared, “I feel the same way!”
Whoosh!
The crowd was buzzing, dearly stirred by Caden’s impassioned speech. It was as if they had experienced an epiphany, finding no fault in his words. They believed him to be speaking nothing but the absolute truth. Both of our leaders have already devoted themselves so

edly to the sword sects. If we still support Tigger to succeed as the new sect leader, wouldn’t be just like those elders, betraying our own for personal glory? The crux of the matter is that if you expect us to betray our country for glory, at least have the decency to share your secret technique! How could he possibly keep secrets? This is totally outrageous! There’s no way I’m going to agree to that!
After Caden’s captivating speech, the mentees of the Three Sword Sects were filled with righteous indignation. They all expressed their support for the decisions made by Caden and Devon.
Just like that, everyone was unanimously against Tigger taking over as the new sect leader.
As Ruben watched the crowd leaning in one direction, his emotions were incredibly complex.
Regardless of whether Emrys had indeed won over people like Rodney through such means, the current situation was complicated. Even if the majority of the elders from the sword sects supported Emrys, it was still a difficult situation if the mentees disagreed.
While the decisions were indeed made by the higher–ups, it was absolutely untenable if the foundation of the masses was unstable.
When the time came, with a single command from Caden and Devon, they could directly lead away countless mentees. That would leave Emrys as a leader without followers.
It would be impossible to forcibly keep those mentees around.
What a headache! Ruben had never anticipated that things would turn out this way. He had thought he could ride the wave of momentum to restore the glory of Sword King Sect. Little did he know that it would all come crashing down.
