Chapter 116
Nick POV
If Adrian truly wanted to contact the rebellion, then he was right in the fact that he needed a laptop and an old cell phone. The only items that couldn’t be traced were the ones made in the last century, and he had to be certain his efforts were untraceable.
At the young alphas request I made my way silently to the human district, disguised as a routine visit to see my dad. No one would suspect anything suspicious about the visit, especially after he nearly took a lashing from the king himself.
I quickly made my way to my old home, with a small bag of groceries draped over my shoulder. Arya was adamant I started to take a few extra rations to the house for my family, and I wasn’t going to refuse. I stopped outside the door and took a moment to ready myself, I already knew Dylan would be everyones first question, especially now that I was currently living with her. I wasn’t sure what I was going to say to them though, her situation was worse than I first thought. I sighed and knocked on the door quietly only to have it opened by young Freddie.
“Nicky!?” The young boy jumped up and down where he stood in glee at my arrival, he was always really excited to see me whenever I came to visit lately, which was actually more than 3 times a week now. I smiled quickly at the little boy in front of me and ruffled his hair slightly, the longer he stayed with my dad the more I was seeing him as a little brother too.
Some
“Hey Freddie, where’s my dad?” He grabbed my hand quickly and walked me into the rear garden, Tina, Dylan’s mom was slowly bringing in laundry from outside while my dad was cutting the grass in the small backyard. I sighed looking at them both, it always impressed me how quickly people could move on. My dad was almost punished today, quite badly at that, and yet here he was still tending to the yard as if the events of a few hours ago hadn’t happened at all.
“Need a hand?” I asked with a smile which in turn made both adults turn their heads in the direction of me and Freddie.
“We didn’t think you’d make it today!” My dad instantly dropped what he was doing, and sped towards me, pulling me into a large bear hug as soon as he was close enough.
“Fredrick James Riley… Tina was quick to say young Freddies full name as she allowed her face to take on a stern expression. “How many times must I tell you, not to answer the door without me or Richard, if that was a lycan, and you said something to anger him then…” Freddie sniffled and looked at his mom who was stern but endearing, she only wanted him to be safe, god knows her other child isn’t. He cut off her words with a simple reply that had me stifling a smile.
“I know mommy, but I knew it was Nicky at the door, I swear, I know his knock.” I hadn’t realised I had a specific knock, but thinking about it I suppose I do indeed do the same thing every visit.
“Just please, wait for one of us first, no matter who it is ok? The young boy nodded his head and looked at him mom who sighed deeply.
“But what if it’s Dilly?” I saw Tina’s entire body go ridged at her daughters name and tears quickly flooded her eyes, I’m surprised she even had any tears left at this point, everything that had been televised was just horrendous to watch, especially when Dylan began to scream in agony. Even I admit, I’d never heard her express her pain so much, but seeing her has eased my mind slightly, yes she isn’t in a great situation, but after seeing her in person, and especially today, I know she’s strong enough to get through anything that is thrown at her.
“It won’t ever be Dylan, the king won’t allow her to come and visit us, you know that.” Freddie shook his head and looked at his mom with wide sad eyes. He missed his sister a lot, everyone could see it, he didn’t understand a lot of what was said on the radio and Tina had not allowed him to watch the news, which I agree with. As far as he knew she was just trapped, he didn’t know about the abuse she had endured.
“It might be her, she can get away from him, I know she can, she’s a super hero.” I smiled and crouch down to talk to him, my hand rested on his shoulder as I looked at him and chuckled, trying to ease the sadness that was growing.
“She is a super hero, she’s fighting for all of us right now, that’s why she can’t come to visit.” I stated and watched as his mouth hung open in awe. “Poppy was right then!” Poppy was his friend at school, the two of them did everything together.
“Poppy was right.” I nodded and then held my finger to my lips in a shush motion. “But we can’t tell anyone else ok, her super powers have to stay secret.” He nodded his own head and mimicked my movements adding a loud shush to it, which caused me to anigger and wink at him.
“Nick?” Tinas voice quickly got my attention away from the boy, I stood up and looked at her softly as she smiled at my actions before her eyes began to flood once again. The woman couldn’t hold in anything lately, not that she ever did. Even before she was taken, Dylan used to constantly complain that her mother worried too much, or cried too much. “Can I ask you a favor?” I wasn’t a fan of her nervous tone but I agreed all the same. “I’ve written a letter, and I was wondering if you could somehow find a way to give it to Dylan.” It was risky, but for Dylan I would do anything.
