Hearing Kevin, Jessica gave a self-mocking smile. She was aware that he had never loved her, and what he said totally met her expectations.
Kevin’s biggest wish this life was to distinguish himself, to have a position in high society and to honor his family. In his view, Leila should be pampered and well educated, while Jessica should naturally do all the dirty work.
"I see."
"Don’t think too much. I do care about you. Mr. Fletcher is dying, and the Fletcher family will no longer care about you when he dies. Once you bring our family business back to life, you can choose any rich man you want."
Kevin was relieved that Jessica agreed.
"I appreciate it," Jessica said in a low voice and hung up the phone. She gripped her phone, feeling bitter. She had always longed for family affection, or at least a complete family where she was loved by her parents, even if they lived an ordinary life.
When her mother died, Jessica was expelled to the outland. She had never been loved by her father or lived in a complete family ever since.
Jessica snuggled up to Lorenzo subconsciously at that thought. The man’s broad chest was enough to offer a shelter or a sense of security to her.
Her mind in a turmoil, Jessica thought she would stay awake until dawn, but unexpectedly, she actually had a sound sleep.

Sunshine came through the window and brushed Lorenzo’s eyes. He raised his hand to shade them against the sun. He couldn’t remember how long it had been since he had last slept through the night.
Lorenzo wanted to tighten his hold on the little girl, who had snuggled up to him the whole night. Her scent was still lingering there faintly, but…
The girl was nowhere to be found. Lorenzo woke up instantly, threw back the covers and got up.
"You’re awake, Mr. Fletcher. Mrs. Fletcher told me not to disturb your sleep. At first, I came to check on you in doubt. I didn’t expect her to be such a great doctor."
Travis knocked on the door respectfully, and then Lorenzo saw his happy face.
"Where’s Mrs. Fletcher?" Lorenzo looked out of the door.
"Mrs. Fletcher said she has something important to do today, and that she’ll come back late," Travis told the truth.
"Where did she go exactly?" Lorenzo asked.
"She didn’t tell me," Travis replied reverently.
"You may leave now."
Lorenzo went to the bathroom to take a shower, and saw clearly the mark left by Jessica last night in the mirror.
Who knew a tiny little girl would bite him so hard?
Rarely, Lorenzo didn’t go to the Fletcher Group but handled some business work in his study. The bell rang at 9 pm, but Jessica hadn’t come back yet.
Jessica hadn’t sent any message to him since she had left the house.
Annoyed and fretful, Lorenzo was about to put his phone aside, but at this moment, it rang, and he pressed the answer button instantly.
"Lorenzo, how can you stand us up again and again? Have you fallen in love with your new wife and started your new life as a house husband?"
House…
