“Lord Rosenthal, what is happening?” the King’s voice interrupted Thomas’s thoughts. He looked at the King.

Fiona convaled again, black liquid spilling from her lips as her breathss.came shallow gasps. Her entire arm turned black momentarily, the veins bulging beneath her skin before receding, as though the poison was retreating to its coIP. 

What is this” the King demanded. He rumed to Thomas “You’re the expert in these matters. What is happening to her?” 

Thomas clenched his fists, his jaw tightening as he forced himself to respond. “This is no ordinary poison,” he said. “It reacts to interference. It’s as if it’s been designed to counter any attempt to heal her, but–Thomas clenched his jaw. “But it is already going out of her system.” 

Thomas knew he had miscalculated. Fiona was using his interference against him, munipulating the poison to create a spectacle he hadn’t anticipated. He had planned to use her unconscious state as leverage to take her back to the pack, but now the was turning the situation to her advantage 

Elijah’s glare pierced through him. “Help her?” Elijah ordered. 

Thomas hesitated for a fraction of a second before stepping forward. He couldn’t refuse without raising suspicion. “Fine,” he said rightly, kneeling by Fiona’s side. He extended his hands again, his focus narrowing on her trembling body as more black liquid spilled from her lips. 

The stench was overwhelming as the viscous fluid continued to pour into the bucket Elijah had placed beside the bed. Thomas moved quickly, his ability probing into her bloodstream once more, careful this time to avoid the reactive surges of the poison 

Elijah didn’t take his eyes off him. “What are you waiting for? Stabilize her, he demanded, his hand still on Fiona’s shoulder as he steadied her 

Thomas ignored the tension in Elijah’s voice, concentrating instead on controlling the poison’s flow. He could feel the remnants of it coiling deep within her system, but its grip was loosening. Fiona’s body was fighting back, her healing ability accelerating now that the poison had been forced into retreat. Slowly, the black veins receded, the darkness fading from her arm as her natural color began to retur

“Yes” Thomas said curly, his focus on Fiona as he continued to guide the poison out. “She is expelling it, but she requires careful monitoring. This process is dangerous” 

Fiona’s convulsions slowed, her breathing evening out as her face regained a faint hint of color. The black liquid trickled to a stop, and her body slumped back onto the bed, limp and still. Her chest rose and fell in shallow, rhythmic breaths 

“She needs rest” Thomas announced, retracting his hands and standing. He gestured toward the bucket, filled with the vile remnants of the poison. “It’s out of her systein, now, but the damage has taken a toll on her body” 

Elijah leaned over Fiona, brushing a damp strand of hair from her face. Her complexion, while improved, still carried the shadow of exhaustion. He turned to Thomas. “And if you hadn’t interfered, would it have been this painful for her?” 

Thomas stiffened but didn’t respond immediately. “I did what was necessary,” he said. “She’s alive, and the poison is gone. 

“Then we owe both of you our thanks” The King’s voice cut through the tension, his gaze shifting between Elijah and Thomas, “It is a rare sight to see a Rosenthal’s abilities in action, Lond Rosentful, your intervention has saved her life.” 

Thomas inclined his head slightly, masking his frustration behind a practiced facade of calm. “It was my duty as her father, Your Majesty,” he said. “But as I said, she must rest. Moving her now would only wonen her condition” 

The King nodded. “Understood Prince Elijah, it seems your decision to keep her here was the right one after all.”

Why was it that Prince Elijah’s statement made her this angry? Was it because of how protective he sounded! How could he sound like that, despite knowing that Fiona had been married before? She was not some virgin saint! It must be his wolf talking, she thought inwardly.

“Oh please Zach.” Elise turned at him. “Will you stop this? You sound pathetic.” She couldn’t understand why Zach was insisting on this matter now. Fiona left his sorry ass, and he is now living with his mistress. All this acting only made Elise more and more irritated. 

Just as Zach opened his mouth to argue, the door swung open, silencing him. Elise turned sharply, her eyes landing on her father as he stepped out. His expression was stoic, bordering on unimpressed, giving nothing away,

“She will be,” came the answer, though it wasn’t Thomas who spoke. The King emerged from the doorway behind him, his commanding presence filling the room as a gentle smile appeared on his face. Thanks to Lord Rosenthal’s efforts, the poison has been expelled.” 

Elise’s gaze flickered back to her father, confusion tightening her chest. She had never expected him to expel the poison himself. They had come here to take Fiona back, hadn’t they? Then why was he..?
