Chapter 2
Fiona’s words silenced the crowd that had gathered around them
Her gaze locked with Elijah’s. “I am a virgin,” she repeated. There is simply no turning back now. Meanwhile, Zach stood frozen in place, his face contorted.
If this were a normal day, he would have immediately strangled her for trying to ruin his reputation. But can he do that in front of a Prince? Fiona did not back down as she looked at Zach as if challenging him to hurt her in front of everyone.
In response, Zach’s grip tightened painfully around her arm. “You lying bitch!” he snarled, pulling her close enough that his hot breath seared her cheek. She grimaced in pain.
“Let Her Go” Elijah’s voice cut through the tension like a knife. Ilis six–foot–four frame loomed over Zach, making the younger Alpha seem small in comparison. Fiona was not surprised when Zach’s defiance crumbled under the weight of Elijah’s icy stare. He quickly released Fiona and shoved her away.
“This isn’t over,” Zach hissed, retreating a step. Fiona realized those were just empty words as she caught a glimmer of doubt in his eyes. Zach must have thought Fiona will back down or that the Alpha and Luna could still clean up However, Fiona would never allow any of that to happen.
this mess.
“I am
The crowd untouched,” Fiona continued, directing her words at Elijah “Please have the pack doctors examine m gasped, the revelation must have felt like hammer blow to Zach’s credibility and ego. She knew the implications of her claim. In the werewolf world, an Alpha’s potency was synonymous with power. Not having an heir would make hhn almost useless. “Please void my marriage!” Fiona continued.
Elijah’s eyes never left hers, his gaze calculating. “Do you understand the consequences of lying to royalty?” he asked. Despite his low and dangerous voice, Fiona could feel something glimmer something in his eyes. Was it amusement?
“I do, Your Highness,” Fiona replied, her chin held high. She had planned this moment since she heard that the Prince will be visiting the pack as part of the Rite of Kings. She steadied herself and convinced herself to calm dowIL
Elijah’s expression remained unreadable, but she could sense the wheels turning in his mind. The Prince was rumored to be ruthless and cruel but he wasn’t known for standing by the side in front of injustice–at least, she was hoping that he wouldn’t just watch in the sidelines,
“So… impotent…” Elijah’s gaze landed on Zach. He smiled. “What an interesting accusation.”
Before Zach could respond, Carrie Sullivan, Fiona’s childhood friend, stepped forward. “There’s no need for an examination, Your Highness,” she announced with a clear voice I’m pregnant with Zach’s child. There is no need to doubt the next Alpha of the pack!”
Fiona’s heart twisted as she stared at Carrie, a woman she had once trusted–the woman who had been sleeping with her very own husband for months now.
However, the pain that she expected to come in her heart never come. What she could feel right now was a sense of satisfaction. Yes. Carrie came forward just as she expected her to Her lips quirked up.
Feeling her gaze, Carrie met Fiona’s eyes. “Zach and I-”
“Enough!” Alpha Cris and Luna Kimberly emerged from the shadows, their presence silencing the murmurs. Alpha Cris’s cold eyes immediately settled on Fiona. As always, the man was going to blame her, Fiona thought
“What is the meaning of this?” the Alpha demanded. Fiona glanced at Elijah, who watched her with an almost amused expression. He was waiting for her to stand her ground, to challenge the authority of the Alpha in front of his entire pack.
Hell yes, Fiona thought, determination hardening her resolve. She would do whatever it took to escape this nightmare.

However, just as she was about to make her move, Elijah stepped forward, his voice filled with the authority that only a prince could wield. “Fiona will come with me,” he declared, his tone brooking no argument. “We will resolve this matter in private, away from the chaos of the pack.”
The Alpha’s eyes
narrowed, but even he knew better than to challenge the Prince’s decision openly. He nodded, though his gaze promised retribution. “Very well,” he said through gritted teeth.
Without waiting for further approval, Elijah extended his hand toward Fiona. She hesitated only for a moment before placing her trembling hand in his, the warmth of his touch seemed to tell her that everything would be fine.
They walked in silence until they reached the mansion’s top floor. far from the prying eyes of the pack. Fiona’s heart pounded as Elijah led her into his private suite which was the opposite of what she expected him to do. Why are they currently alone in the suite?
“Would you like some wine?” Elijah’s voice was calm, almost casual as if they hadn’t just left a scene of chaos behir
Fiona blinked, trying to reconcile the man who had just saved her with the one now offering her a drink. “Wine, please,” she replied. She would have preferred something stronger than wine. She needed something to calm her racing heart.
Elijah poured a glass and handed it to her, watching as she took a tentative sip. The warmth of the drink did little to ease the knot of anxiety in her stomach.
“You handled yourself well tonight.” Elijah remarked, leaning against the counter. “But I imagine it wasn’t easy.”
Fiona shook her head, her fingers tightening around the glass. “It wasn’t, she admitted. “But I had no other choice. Staying with Zach would have killed me.”
Elijah studied her for a long moment, his eyes sharp and probing. His gaze then landed on the bruises on her arm. “And so you chose to use me to escape.”
Fiona’s heart skipped a beat. She looked up at him, her composure slipping. “I didn’t mean to,” she began, but Elijah held up a hand, silencing her.
“I’m not angry,” he said, his tone unexpectedly gentle. “In fact, I’m offering you a way out.”
Fiona frowned, confusion knitting her brow. “What do you mean?”
Elijah’s gaze held hers. “Marry me, and I will void your marriage to Zach. You’ll be free from him, free from this pack”
arry me?” Does he understand what he was saying?
Fiona stared at him, stunned by his offer. “Why would you want to marry me Surely, he wasn’t drunk, was he?
Elijah’s smirk returned, though this time there was a hint of something darker behind it “Because I need a wife–someone- who can maintain the illusion of strength. And you, my dear, are a Rosenthal. Your family’s connection to healing magic could be useful
Her heart raced as she tried to process his words. “What do you mean, illusion?”
Elijah set his glass down and walked closer to her. Out of nowhere, he revealed an orb. “Swear into the orb that you will keep everything I say here tonight a secret”
Fiona stared at the orb. It was a powerful tool that she only heard in legends. A part of her wanted to tell him no but that part immediately died when she recalled her father’s raging eyes “What do I need to do?” she asked.
