Chapter 41

Fiona woke up in the morning, her body wrapped snugly in the soft sheets of Elijah’s bed. The warmth of the blankets and the faint light filtering through the curtains made her want to stay wrapped in the quiet comfort of the room. She instinctively pulled the sheets up to cover her face, feeling her cheeks heat up as memories from the night before resurfaced

Her mind replayed the intense moments they had sharedhow his lips had claimed hers with such need and urgency, how their bodies had moved together in sync as if nothing could stop them. Yet, despite the heat of the moment, Elijah had pulled back. He had stopped himself, telling her she didn’t deserve to be touched before their wedding. His restraint had surprised her, leaving her with a strange mixture of gratitude and longing

It felt like forever before she finally sat up in bed. The other side of the bed was empty, but she distinctly remembered Elijah sleeping next to her through the night. Her eyes scanned the room, trying to pinpoint where he might have gone. Just as she was about to get out of bed, the rich, unmistakable smell of coffee hit her senses

Curious, she looked toward the balcony, and there he was. Elijah stood outside, leaning against the railing with a book in one hand and a steaming cup of coffee in the other. He was dressed in nothing but a loose robe, the morning light spilling over his skin, highlighting every strong feature of his body. His dark hair was slightly tousled, his posture relaxed as he enjoyed the peaceful morning. He looked like a Greek god, effortlessly handsome, and the sight of him made something stir deep

inside her

Fiona swallowed hard as she remembered their heated encounter from the night before. A part of her wished it hadn’t ended the way it had, that he hadn’t stopped. Yet another part of her was grateful that he did, knowing that the timing wasn’t right, Her wolf stirred within her, restless from the unfulfilled connection between them

She sat there for a moment, her gaze lingering on him, unsure whether to feel relieved or frustrated by how things had ended the previous night. Elijah was lost in his thoughts, oblivious to her watching him. The way the light framed his figure only made her stomach tighten further. There was no denying it she wanted him. But she also knew that waiting was the right thing, even if it tested every ounce of her patience

Fiona took a deep breath, wrapped herself in the robe, and walked slowly toward the balcony. As she approached, Elijah noticed her, his lips curling into a warm smile. He didn’t say anything, just watched her, his gaze soft and steady. Fiona leaned against the doorway, smiling back as the warmth of the morning sun hit her skin. The moment felt almost too peaceful as if the chaos of their lives had momentarily been left behind

Elijah extended his arm toward her, an unspoken invitation in his eyes. Without a second thought, she walked over and settled into his arms, her body relaxing against him as if it were the most natural thing in the world. For a brief moment, she wondered if this was all real or if she was still dreaming. The feel of his strong arms around her and the steady beat of his heart beneath her was grounding, but the ease of it all still felt surreal

Elijah leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. The simple, tender gesture sent a warmth through her, and she found herself smiling even more

I forgot to tell you something important last night,” Elijah said, his voice low and calm

Fiona tilted her head up, curiosity piqued. What is it?”

Elijah paused for a second as if searching for the right words. I’ve never felt like that with any other woman,he admitted, his eyes locking onto hers. I always thought I waswell, impotent.”

Fiona blinked, surprised by the bluntness of his statement, especially this early in the morning. Her face flushed, heat rushing to her cheeks as she widened her eyes in disbelief

Elijah chuckled, clearly amused by her reaction. I just wanted to make it clear,he continued. To avoid any misunderstandings.”

Misunderstandings?Fiona asked, her voice still colored with confusion

I didn’t want you to think I was tricking you into this marriage,he explained, his tone more serious now. The dealwas legitimate in the first place. For yearsI always thought no woman would be able toHe made a deliberate pause. Surprisingly, he sounded so calm, it almost seemed as if he was talking about something normal like the weather or the

stars

Fiona didn’t know what to say. Instead, she turned her head from left to right. This place should be saferight? What if someone hears their conversation? The deal they signed wasa secret. Even to the King

No one else is around us,Elijah said, and Fiona nodded. Both of them were werewolves, after all, their sense of smell had always been, and would always be, superior

ComeElijah said. I’ll show you something.”

Fiona got up, and Elijah pulled her toward the other side of the balcony, where she could clearly see a large fountain. Fiona stared at the fountain, her brows furrowing slightly. She had seen it before, but nothing about it seemed out of the ordinary What am I looking at?she asked, her voice quiet, halfexpecting Elijah to point out some hidden detail she had missed. A special flower? A new statue? A topiary
