Chapter Two Hundred and Twenty Seven
Chapter Two Hundred and Twenty Seven
ALEXANDER’S POV
“I have to say, you’re far better looking than I remember.” Empress Julia says, walking forward.
Of course, it hadn’t taken long for me to realize that our arrival was no longer a secret.
“You’ve gotten more wrinkled. Perhaps you need another dip in the Lake of Youth?”
Her smile faltered. The Empresses were obsessed with remaining youthful, and that comment had hit its mark.
“I know why you’re here.”
“Good, because I won’t be leaving till I get what I came for
“Brave as always. You don’t even mind the fact that you’ve just called an all–out war.“.
“We’ve been fighting wars ever since I took over from my father. If it comes to that, then so be it.”
Julia chuckled. “You seem so confident in your pack.”
“That, I am.”
“You won’t find her here.” She said, I didn’t know if she was referring to the empress or…
“Aliyah. You won’t find her here. She had escaped.”
I studied her. Of course, it could be a lie, but something told me she was being truthful. Now, I could see the bags beneath her eyes–a clear sign of sleepless nights–and the pallor of her skin, making her look older.
“How did she escape?” I asked.
“How else? The Demon Overlord must have found a way through.”
That was the problem. Daemon didn’t take her; someone else did.
“Instead of plotting devices on how to overpower me, I suggest that you find your Luna. Something tells me she isn’t faring very well.”
KADIA’S POV
I left the room in search of Cynthia, pushing open door after door. In one room, a couple was tangled up having sex; in the next, a woman was carefully applying paint to her face. The third room was empty except for a soldier standing guard. My irritation grew with each door I opened, and then, I pushed open the final door on the wing.
I knew she was there even before I saw her.
Empress Cynthia was clearly expecting me. There was no smirk on her face, but her eyes blazed with fury as she rose to her feet.
“You fool! You asked for my help, and I delivered. We had an agreement, but you were never planning to keep it, were you?”
“I asked for your support during the war, and I still remember your words. ‘What did you think would happen?” you said. “That I’d fly my soldiers over here on a goddamn plane to fight by your side? Some of them have never even been on a plane in their entire lives. We need our soldiers–we have our own wars to fight, and we don’t interfere in the wars of your kind.‘
