Chapter Two Hundred and Thirty Three
Chapter Two Hundred and Thirty Three
“Who are you, and state your business,” the soldiers demanded.
Sebastian had brought me to the Nightshade Pack, but he’d refused to go any farther. I suspected it had something to do with the Alpha King.
“I need to see the Alpha.”
“What is your name?”
I couldn’t tell them my real name. If I did, word of where I was could spread, and the Empresses would come after me. I had to think of something–fast.
“I’m a friend of the Alpha.”
“You don’t look very familiar,” said the soldier with chestnut–brown hair, eyeing me from head to toe.”
“I advise you to go inform the Alpha that a visitor is here to see him,” I said, sounding more confident than I felt. ” I don’t think he would take it lightly if I’m kept waiting.”
The soldier nodded to the dark–skinned man beside him, and the man turned to go find the Alpha.
I didn’t think the Alpha knew what I looked like; the only time I’d visited this pack, I’d been inside a carriage, and I doubted the curtain had revealed much. But the Luna–she must know
my face.
I hadn’t expected the Alpha King to arrive so soon.
Blue eyes that struck me as familiar met mine–intimidating, just like Daemon’s. Everything I had planned to say slipped from my mind.
“Come with me,” he said, and for a moment, I was confused. Did he recognize me? Was he taking me to the dungeons for wasting his time?
A small prod from the soldiers got me moving. He led the way through the woods, never once looking back to see if I was following. I opened my mouth to speak, then shut it again.
This was the moment I was supposed to explain why I was here and who I came to find–yet the words wouldn’t
come.
“I’m assuming you’re Aliyah.”
“You recognize me?” I asked, unable to hide the surprise in my voice.
“When my soldiers reported a visitor with silver hair, it wasn’t hard to guess. He described you.”
He?
“Daemon?” I asked.
“Yes. I’m guessing that’s why you’re here?”
I nodded–then remembered he couldn’t see me. “Yes,” I said out loud. He didn’t respond, just kept walking until we reached a massive building. It was as big as the castle back in Aureonna City–only more modern, elegant, and stylish.
Inside, the Alpha stopped in front of a large door and knocked. After a moment, it was pulled open by a woman.
Not just any woman–but the Luna. Kaida.

The moment her eyes met mine, recognition sparked in them.
“It’s her,” she said. Stepping aside to let me in.
“Yes, and thankfully we could end our search.”
Their search?
Had they been searching for me?
Daemon was dressed in black pants and a black shirt. The moment his gaze met mine, he froze. Then he blinked, like he was trying to figure out if I was real or just a trick of his mind.
