Chapter 1048
Thanks to her not drinking too much of the water, Alicia snapped out of the drug's effect before anyone else could. She woke up with a splitting headache. It was as if she was wearing a helmet with a thousand needles piercing it. Every inch of her skin felt like they were pressed against a wall of needles. She lay on her bed like a piece of meat. She held her forehead and flung her arm away. Then, she felt herself touching a pair of hands.
Her eyes went wide with shock, and reality sank in. That… That was not a dream. It was reality. Regret filled her heart. How could I do that? That was foolish. She quickly composed herself and looked at the man beside her.
The room was dark, illuminated by nothing but the moonlight. She could vaguely see the man's outlines, yet they were so familiar. Alicia slowly recalled the madness that just happened a while earlier. She knew she shouldn't do it, but she still hoped it was him. With anticipation in her heart, she turned the bedroom's night lamp on.
It really is Jamie. The frustration about losing her first time was gone with the wind, only to be replaced by guilt. She was plunged into an abyss of despair. That was my first time, but Narissa is his fiancée. What on earth were we doing? Despite her internal screaming, she regretted nothing.
Yet, she knew Jamie loved Narissa. Even if she were to give him her all, she would get nothing in return. The mere thought of that made her sulk. Uncontrollably, she started to shed tears. Just then, she realized the moon was gone, and the night wasn't as dark as it was a moment ago.
Alicia scrambled to find her phone. She checked the time, and to her horror, it was already 3.30AM. The janitor is going to clean the corridors in an hour. Jamie would be seen if he were to leave then.
She stared at the sleeping Jamie. Conflicting emotions were stirring in her heart, yet she came to a decision in the end. I mustn't ruin his relationship with Narissa. I'll just pretend none of this happened. She wiped her tears away and swallowed her sadness. Then, she got up and changed into her clothes before helping Jamie change into his.
When she checked into the resort, the manager asked Alicia if she wanted to change to the second floor after he saw the friendly exchange between Alicia and Danny. So, Alicia figured Jamie's room should be on the second floor since he must have come with Danny and the others. She had no idea which room he was in, but if she left him on the second floor, the janitor would take him to his room when they saw him.

In the meantime, Narissa had lost sight of Zephyr. So, she returned to the hotel and waited for him outside. When dawn was about to break, Zephyr finally showed up, and the woman leaped down to block his way. "Where did you go?"
"Just walking around. Is that forbidden?" The man stopped and answered coolly.
"I saw you with a stranger. Aren't you going to explain yourself?" Come on, spit it out. I can help you if you just speak it out loud. She couldn't tell him she wanted to help, not after all the attitude she had given him. That'd make me look like a simp. He'll never let me live it down.
"Why? I would've told you everything if I had gone out with a girl, but that was a guy. I was just meeting a friend. What's there to explain?" Oblivious to the hint, Zephyr joked, "Have you been waiting for me? You like me, don't you? I can see why. I'm hot, after all."
"Oh, shut it." Incensed, Narissa snapped, "I was waiting for the meteor shower. You think you're more important than a rare phenomenon?"
He looked up into the sky and smiled bitterly. "If the stars do grant wishes, then yeah, they are more important than I am."
