The girls were gathered at the front of the ocean, staring across it as far as their limited vision could take them.
They made a sort of file at the lips of the ocean, two on a row. No one saying a word. All had their attention spent on things ahead.
While some were carried away by the beauty of the ocean, some by its mystery, and some by the mountain range.
On the contrary, some were consumed by the fear of the possibility of getting to the mountain.
But none of the girls could tell what was going through the mind of the other unless they made words of their funny stares.
"Are you sure that we can make it even if we get a boat from the Cannibal?"
Tendzel made her fears known. The rest of the girls who had been looking for a medium to let out the pool of words went for it.
"I thought I was the only one thinking of how impossible this is. None of us have ever paddled a boat. We can't even do it, I'm sure of that. Why don't we face the truth and quit pretending to be whom we are not?"
"We could tell the Cannibal to take us there. He might be able to paddle the boat."
Mira had countered Jada who was always dismissive. It seemed as though Jada had taken the former traits of Claire. So it seemed.
"Take us there in what? Huh? Take us in what? Didn't you see what he was making? How could a boat look like a big fucking vase? What are we supposed to do with it, put flowers?"
Lisa laughed as soon as Allison stopped talking. Some of the girls joined in the joke for a while but then there was a pause.
"Let's stop being pathetic and dismissive. Those who went with me saw that the boat is still under construction. The Cannibal must know what he is doing? I mean, haven't you seen what they could do? Haven't you seen the houses which they built? Damn, I've not seen such structure made from wood ever in my life."
"Did you also give a blowjob to one too, eh Evelyn? You seem to fight for them a lot. I mean the Cannibals, or are you just trying to get on the good side of Ayisha and Claire. So you could be their handbag?"
Jada had taken it out on Evelyn as soon as the latter found peace. Instead of being mad at what Jada said, Evelyn chuckled.
"At least I'm better than you, fake face. And my brain is more active than your plastic own... who knows, probably while getting work done on your face, the doctor mistakenly made a cut in your skull and brought out you brain... then replaced it with a camel's..."
Evelyn paused, shaking her head,
"No, not Camel's... a camel is wiser than you. Who knows... a goat's or armadillo's brain."
"You crazy bitch!!!"
Jada couldn't take the insult. She charged at Evelyn but Claire stepped in her way, then Laurette.
"You come for her. Let's see how good you are going through the both of us to get to her."
Claire staked a claim. Jada pretended not to care that the two were in her way, but then again she had a rethink and stopped.
"Look at them, bunch of retards."
"Not the r word, Jada."
Lisa called. Jada glared at Lisa, rolling her eyes.
"Who could had tell that Jada had this dark side? Who could had tell that all she had been doing before now is but charades."
"Now you shut the fuck up, Mira. Don't even start with me."
Mira wasn't ready to push it further. Not because she had been warned by the scary Jada. Well, it was quite hard to tell why Mira held back. But occasionally, Mira would glance at Laurette who would look away immediately.
"Have we had enough yet?"
Ayisha raised her voice. Even though not all the girls were ready to listen to her, yet they seemed to have no choice. As far as it seemed, none was ready to interrupt. Noticing that, Ayisha found a stance for herself.
