Book11 Chapter4.
I have to admit, a woman's intuition is spot on.
It wasn't even dark yet. Jayden, who had been missing for a week, came home.
I didn't know if he thought I was blind, deaf, and had no sense of smell, or if he was just that arrogant and confident.
His neck was covered in hickeys, of all sizes, clearly from several rounds of passion.
He reeked of a woman's perfume, the same scent Ruby had worn that morning.
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder.
But with a new love, the old one becomes nothing more than a stain on the wall.
As soon as Jayden got home, he started picking fights. Somehow, he ended up bringing up my job.
"I heard you quit your job?" he asked I hadn't told him I quit because I wanted to surprise him.
I had no idea where he heard it, but the answer was obvious.
My heart filled with sadness. I forced a smile. "Yeah, I have no job and no income now. I don't even know who you're giving your money to.
I'm just living off the rent I collect every day."
Jayden's secret exposed. He became angry and ashamed.
He swung his hand, knocking the carefully prepared dishes off the table.
"Freya, why are you being so passive-aggressive? Are you hinting I haven't given you money? Screw your rent collecting. First, pay the rent for this house."
He threw two thousand dollars at my feet.
