Book12 Chapter5.
Jordan looked great.
He was always a top student, a super genius who crushed everyone in college. It's only been four years since graduation, and he's already a tech mogul worthy of business magazine covers.
Elena used to be the class beauty. She started her career in junior year.
I never expected them to end up together.
Good for them.
I clutched my chest, forcing down the sadness.
At four in the morning, I finished work.
I was the last to leave. My colleagues thought everyone was gone, so they turned off the lights and stopped the elevator early.
I pressed the elevator button irritably, hoping to light it up.
"Make a call," Jordan's voice suddenly sounded behind me.
My body stiffened.
I stiffly called my colleague.
The elevator reopened. Jordan and I stood in the cramped space.
"You guys get off work this late?" he asked casually.
"I live nearby," I said.
The elevator arrived.
As soon as the doors opened, I rushed out.
Jordan, who had been calm for several minutes, finally burst into anger at this moment.
"Why are you running?" he said angrily.
"Where else can you run, Hannah?"
"Is disappearing and vanishing from the world fun for you?"
