"Have you arrived? If you have, just wait for me a bit-I'm stuck in traffic."
As usual, Leo called right on time for dinner.
"Um, Leo, I'm sorry, but I can't make it tonight-something came up."
"I sent you a text this morning, but I assumed you were busy and missed it."
The was a long, heavy silence on the other end of the line.
"I can wait for you," he said at last.
Hearing him say he'd wait nearly made my jaw drop in disbelief.
For seven long years, it had always been me waiting for him.
"Let's leave it at that. I'm hanging up now."
I quickly ended the call, turning out whatever else Leo was trying to s a y .
As I stepped out of the car, I was momentarily stunned by the sight before me.
Rolin had brought me to the place where it all began- my undergraduate campus.
