Books Chapter9.
Despite Stanley's efforts to find the best doctors and use the most precious medicines to restore my health...
My condition continued to deteriorate at a visibly alarming rate.
Not long ago, I was full of life, but now I had withered into a walking skeleton.
When I took off my clothes, my bones were so visible.
My vitality was draining rapidly, and even sitting quietly on the sofa for a few minutes left me feeling exhausted.
I was constantly drowsy.
Stanley watched helplessly as I grew weaker each day, and he could just sigh in frustration at home.
He could do nothing.
One day, Stanley rushed home with my favorite food.
When he pushed open the door and didn't find me in the bedroom, fear instantly consumed him.
Where could a sick person like me have gone?
Countless frightening thoughts filled his mind.
He trembled as he pulled out his phone, preparing to call the police.
Just then, I appeared from the spare bedroom, dressed in a white dress and fully made-up, smiling as I walked towards him.
"Stanley, you're finally back."
His hand, which had been raised, froze in mid-air as he stared at me blankly.
The girl from his memories, singing on stage, seemed to merge with the woman in front of him.
It was the same white dress and the same beautiful face.
The difference was that despite the heavy makeup, my dark circles were still visible.
But that was enough.
Good enough.
I lifted my skirt and skipped over to him, grabbing his hand.
"Stanley, you've been so exhausted during this time. Why not let me sing a song for you?"
He wanted to say yes.
But he couldn't utter a word.
