"Becca, I know I've hurt you lately, so I've let Lana go. From now on, it'll just be us, okay?"

He kept talking to himself.

I didn't respond, just watched as he drove us to the courthouse.

I thought to myself that if we could get the marriage license today, I could leave the past behind.

But then, there was another complication.

Lana burst in, crying and holding a knife to her neck.

"Ryan, I can't live without you. Please don't leave me!"

Ryan froze, holding my hand awkwardly.

I had a sinking feeling this might not work out.

"Lana, stop this. I'm not getting back with you. My heart belongs to Becca, and she's carrying my child."

"But I'm pregnant with your child too!"

She cried out, her voice breaking the silence in the courthouse.

Ryan's hand fell from mine as he stared at her in disbelief.

"What did you say?"

"I'm pregnant. I'm having your baby!"

Lana's voice broke down.

"Ryan, if you're leaving me, I'll kill myself-"

Before she could finish, Ryan rushed to her and held her tight.

"I want you. I need you."

The heart I'd been trying to rebuild shattered once again.
