Book Chapter11.
I rented a place and started painting on the streets.
Thanks to my grandmother's influence, I was quite good at it.
Every day, I'd sit by the riverbank, listening to music and painting.
It was truly relaxing and liberating.
I had come to realize that belonging doesn't necessarily mean marriage.
I am my own sense of belonging.
During my first week in England, I met a painting partner.
He was an Italian named Luca Romano, handsome and three years older than me.
He claimed to be an artist who had traveled across the country to paint.
He found this lifestyle very free and unrestrained.
He admired my work and we had great conversations.
We grew closer, spending our days painting together and visiting art exhibitions.
After a week, Ryan found me.
His eyes were red, and he stood not far off, watching me interact with Luca.
Oh, and Sarah had told me that shortly after I left, Ryan had practically scoured the entire city to find me.
He had been searching and asking around everywhere.
He didn't even care about Lana anymore.
I really didn't understand who he loved — he couldn't let go of me while being ambiguous with Lana.
He walked over step by step.
"Becca, did you have the baby?"
