Book7 Chapter13.
Xavier's Perspective.
Ariella never came back after she left the country.
She cut off all contact with me, and I never saw her again.
I went to the airport that day to propose to her.
I wanted to give her a firm commitment before she left, to give myself the confidence to let go of Chloe.
I never expected Chloe to show up or confront me like that.
After all, she had agreed to let me go the night before.
I knew Chloe's personality well. She was selfish, jealous, always putting herself first.
When we were kids, I couldn't have her. When I had Ariella, Chloe wouldn't let me go.
But I couldn't just abandon her. After all, we grew up together, and she was my childhood friend.
Even when my parents died when I was young, it was her family that raised me.
Before her parents passed away, they only asked me to take care of her.
At the airport, Chloe shattered the engagement ring I had bought for Ariella.
She cried and told me I would regret it. I knew she was capable of anything.
When I chased after her, she ran up to the airport terminal, threatening to jump if I didn't say I loved her.
I couldn't say it, so she really jumped.
Luckily, it was only two stories high, and she only broke a leg.
For a while, she tied me to her side, and I took care of her without leaving.
She thought I had accepted her, but I remained distant and eventually made it clear that I only loved Ariella.
