Chapter 165 Afraid I’ll Do Something to You? 

The private nurse replied, “Gunshot wound.” 

This kind of violence was still foreign and frightening to Bella. The first time she had encountered anything like it was after meeting Leonard. 

For 25 years, she had lived in a peaceful, orderly world. She couldn’t begin to imagine what Dominic had endured before he came back. 

As she stepped out of the basement and felt the cool air against her skin, she finally managed to calm down a bit. 

Only after speaking with members of the Sawyer family did she start to understand the full 

story. 

Apparently, Miller Group’s overseas company was now well–established and no longer needed the Yates family’s support. 

Ideally, they should continue to profit peacefully side by side, but the Yates family had other plans. They tried to force Dominic into marrying Amber to bind Miller Group more tightly to 

them. 

Dominic went on this trip with the Yates family not only because of their subtle threats but also because he wanted to sever ties with them entirely. 

He couldn’t simply demand they pull their investment, so he aimed to make a clean break and avoid any further entanglements. 

But the Yates family had even darker intentions. They introduced Dominic to a local mob they had been secretly working with, hoping to drag him down with them. 

The meeting went as poorly as expected. Dominic flat–out refused their demands, which infuriated the mob boss. 

Tensions escalated, and both men ended up drawing guns. The mob boss was killed on the spot while Dominic was critically injured. 

In the ensuing chaos, Amber helped Dominic escape, bringing him to the people he had. arranged to meet in advance. They fled through the night, making it back to the country just -in time. 

Amber’s actions fractured the alliance between the Yates family and those criminals. 

Now, the mob believed the Yates family had set them up to orchestrate a murder. Claiming they wanted revenge for their fallen boss, they were making life hell for the Yates family. 

After hearing all this, Bella asked hoarsely, “What about Amber? Did she come back with Dominic?”

Bella had always disliked Amber, but she couldn’t deny that Amber had saved Dominic. Now, the Yates family was in serious trouble because of it.
