Bella quietly retreated to the comer while Dominic stood at the front, facing away from her. They both tacitly avoided speaking, behaving like strangers who didn’t 

know each other. 

After a moment, she realized she hadn’t pressed the button for her floor. Just as she was about to reach out, he raised his hand and pressed the third floor for her. “Thank you,” Bella said stiftly. 

She tried to keep her tone steady, but her gaze never left his back. She was so afraid he might suddenly turn around that she appeared unusually cautious. 

When the elevator reached the third floor, Dominic blocked the door and didn’t step aside. Bella didn’t dare push past him. Before the doors closed, he shifted to 

the side. 

Bella felt a rush of relief and immediately dashed out. Just then, she heard him ask in a disappointed tone behind her, “Do I not deserve the scarf you were secretly knitting for so long?” 

Bella stopped dead in her tracks. She immediately tumed back to explain, but the elevator doors had already closed. 

A wave of melancholy washed over her. If he had wanted to bear an explanation, he wouldn’t have walked away like that. He had never been willing to listen. To him, everything she said was just an excuse. Besides, there was no need for explanations anymore. 

Back in the office, Bella lifted her head and spotted a woman she didn’t particularly want to see 

Maintaining her professional demeanor, she sat down and asked, “What seems to be the problem?” 

The woman had a flushed face, and she didn’t appear ill. Instead, she looked fashionable and comfortable, which explained why Dominic often praised her taste. The woman replied, “I heard you and Mr. Miller broke up.” 

Frowning, Bella asked, “Did you come here just to pry into my personal life?” 

As she spoke, she tried to maintain her composure. The fact that this woman knew about her breakup with Dominic so quickly indicated that the news had come directly from him. 

The woman smiled. “Sorry for overstepping, Dr. Jones. Anyway, my heart has been feeling uncomfortable, especially during Intense exercise. I often feel chest tightness.” 

Bella’s frown deepened. The way the woman emphasized “intense exercise” felt like a deliberate reminder.

She couldn’t help but recall the times Dominic had brought this woman to pick out gifts for Hallie, their intimate actions, and the gossip surrounding Bella found it hard to ignore. Curiosity piqued, she asked, “intense exercise? What kind of exercise are you referring to? Jogging or something else? 

A hint of shyness appeared on the woman’s face. “I’m talking about the intimate moments with my boyfriend. You’re a doctor, so you understand the importance 

of honesty during a medical examination. I’m not trying to be inappropriate. Please check me thoroughly. Thank you.”
