As Lia packed up the fruits, she commented, "He's fattening you like a pig, so why aren't you gaining any weight at all? You should eat more; don't let the baby miss out."
There was a knock on the door, and Cara went to answer it. When she saw an unfamiliar face standing outside, she asked cautiously, "Who are you looking for?"
"I'm looking for Bella. She lives here, right?"
Upon hearing the voice at the door, Bella frowned. She recognized the voice to belong to Simon's wife—no, Simon's ex-wife.
After confirming it was just Elaine at the door, Bella instructed Cara to let her in. Since there were three people in the house, she felt secure.
As soon as Elaine entered, she scanned the room with a critical look before saying, "I heard you're carrying Dominic's child, yet he's letting you live in a place like this? You and your child are truly cheap. Could it be that he found out the baby's a girl and doesn't want you anymore, so you can't even enter Miller Manor now?
Lia wanted to rebuke, but Bella stopped her. "Say what you want to say, then leave. We have no relationship, so don't come here and pretend you have the right to criticize me."
Elaine scoffed and didn't even bother to sit down. "I could care less about your business. Your father refuses to agree to the divorce. The injury on his leg has left him crippled, and he's now a useless man who can barely get by. Since he has a daughter, I have no reason to support him. From now on, you'd better start preparing some monthly support money for him, or I'll take you to court."
Upon hearing her words, Bella's face turned pale, and she squeezed her lips tightly together. She was too furious to talk.
