Ian's lips curved into a smirk. "If I go back now, my dad would think I'm there to laugh at him. He might even think the kid is mine. I'm not carrying that blame."
As soon as he finished speaking, his phone rang.
He glanced at it and set it on the coffee table, clearly not intending to answer.
Dominic walked over and glanced at the screen. The name "Rosa" was flashing. "It's your stepmother. Are you not going to answer? She's probably calling for help."
Ian frowned slightly at his statement. "I know why she's calling. What good would it do for me to respond? I can't help her with this."
The phone rang repeatedly until Dominic became annoyed by the noise and declined the call for him. "You're not answering, not declining it, and not blocking her. What do you want?"
Ian felt a little exposed. "Do you think I could help her? We don't know anything about each other."
Dominic didn't know what to say and remained silent.
Rosa Caldwell texted him shortly, "I know you're at Miller Corporation. I'm downstairs. Please meet me one last time, or I'll die right in front of you."
Ian felt annoyed. "Women are so hard to understand. She's threatening to die if I don't meet her."
"If this matter snowballs, she might go that far. Your dad won't let her off the hook easily. Just let her come up. With me here, it'll be less awkward." Dominic shrugged.
Upon hearing his words, Ian reluctantly replied to Rosa. He wasn't free today, but he had come to avoid running into her at the hospital.
