“I see.”
Sophia laughed and said, “Kevin, don’t blame your parents. All parents are like this. I even urge Hay and her brother, but they don’t listen to me. Maybe it’s because we love to nag, and Hay rarely comes home.
“As for Hugh, that boy has many female friends, but none of them are serious girlfriends. Sheesh, children really are a liability.”
“Mom, didn’t you say we’d have breakfast together when I’m here? I came back on an empty stomach.”
Hayden had to interrupt her mother again.
“Yes, yes, let’s go have breakfast. You and Kevin had planned to go horseback riding, right? Kevin, there’s a hot spring near our ranch. In this kind of weather, you’ll be covered in sweat after horse riding. You can go get a good soak.”
Hayden did not say a word.
Her mom almost said it outright, “Kevin, Hay is actually a girl.”
Kevin said with a smile, “Great! So there’s actually a hot spring near the ranch. I bet it’ll be comfortable taking a soak in the hot spring after our horse riding session.”
“Let’s have breakfast then,” Sophia said while standing up.
Like a buddy, Mr. Queen wrapped his arm around Kevin’s shoulders and walked behind his wife toward the dining room.
Hayden was once again left extremely speechless.
Hayden knew her parents really liked Kevin and were trying to set her up with him. She did not even need to ask.
She took out her phone and called her brother.
She coldly ordered when Hugh answered the phone, “Hugh, no matter where you are now, come home immediately.”
After saying that, she did not give her brother a chance to respond and hung up right away.
Hugh on the other end was speechless.
He had made plans to take his good buddies on his private yacht to go out to sea today and had already arrived at the dock.
After hearing her question, the parents turned their heads toward Kevin.
Old Mrs. York had already picked a marriage candidate for Kevin?
That would mean Hay did not have a chance.
Old Mrs. York would never pick Hay as a candidate. After all, in the eyes of outsiders, Hay was a man.
The Queen couple quickly lost their enthusiasm.
Kevin admitted honestly. “That is true. My nana did pick suitable marriage candidates for me and my brothers. She even gave each of us a photo of them. She told us to get together within a year, whether it was marriage or engagement. In the worst case, we would at least need to have a romantic relationship with the candidates.
“Or else…”
Kevin said with a bitter smile, “My nana said, if we weren’t able to find success in looking for a wife, we would be kicked out of Wildridge Manor. That old lady would no longer want us as her grandchildren.”
