Zachary said with certainty, “Impossible! My mother-in-law also has a sister only, and her sister is Aunt Audrey. We all know how many children she has. Apart from Elisa, Serenity has no other cousin sisters.”
“If we’re talking about the generation before her, which is Mrs. Stone’s generation, does she have other sisters?” Kevin asked.
Zachary answered, “Aunt Audrey said that it was only her and her sister. Their parents and family passed away, and only the two of them are alive. They were sent to the orphanage because they had no relatives.”
Kevin was speechless.
“Kev, did you say it was a daughter of the Fishers?”
Zachary finally caught the point.
“Yes, Caroline Fisher. There’s a lot to talk about the Fishers, and it might take days to finish everything, so I won’t tell you much. In short, Caroline is Madam Fisher’s biological daughter but was switched at birth by their evil housekeeper. The housekeeper’s daughter became the Fishers’ daughter instead, and is now known as the second daughter.
“As for Caroline, the real daughter, she grew up in the housekeeper’s hometown and suffered all sorts of hardships. I heard that the housekeeper’s family treated Caroline poorly. The truth was somehow revealed after that, and Caroline finally returned to the Fishers and became the eldest daughter of the family.
“It had only been a year since she returned to her family. She seems weak but is in fact pretending to be vulnerable, just like Camryn.”
Zachary interrupted him. “I don’t have time to listen to their family drama, but I do know one thing—my mother-in-law was initially a Fisher, but her last name was changed to Howden after she was adopted. I don’t know what her original name was, and Aunt Audrey never mentioned it either. I only know her name was changed to Lisa Howden when she was adopted by the Howdens.
“As for Aunt Audrey’s maiden name, I heard from Nana that it’s Audrey Fisher.”
Kevin slapped his thigh. “Serenity must be somewhat related to the Fishers. Fisher is a rare last name. Since Mrs. Stone was a Fisher, she might’ve been from the Fishers we know. Moreover, she’s unlikely from an extended family but a direct line of descent. That’s because Serenity and Liberty look like Caroline, the future family head of the Fishers.”
Zachary fell silent for a while before he said, “I’ll talk to Serenity about this when she’s back and let her ask Aunt Audrey.”
He hoped Serenity would not be involved in trouble again.
“Alright, let her ask. Meanwhile, I’ll ask about the Fishers again in Jensburg and see if they have any displaced children.”
Mrs. Stone was now in her fifties.
