Hayden’s eyes flickered. She asked Kevin, “What do you mean by that? Your sister-in-law and her sister look like Caroline? Does your sister-in-law have lost sisters?”
“I can be sure that Serenity only has an older sister, Liberty, and no younger sister. She has a cousin, but her cousin doesn’t look like Liberty.”
Kevin continued, “I just found it strange how strangers can share such an uncanny resemblance, so I wanted to ask you if the Fishers have any displaced children—not recently, but decades ago.
“Serenity and Liberty can’t be displaced children of the Fishers. I know about the Hunts very well.
“However, their deceased mother was an orphan and seemed to have only been sent to an orphanage when she was a few years old. She was later adopted, but unfortunately, she was given to someone else to raise after her adoptive parents gave birth to their own child. She was later given to someone else again, and this was repeated several times.
“This caused Mrs. Stone to put in a lot of effort to look for her younger sister. It took her decades before she saw Sonny and found Serenity and Liberty. Sonny is Serenity’s nephew and looked very much like Liberty.”
Hayden asked him, “You’re suspecting that Serenity’s mom is… The last family head of the Fishers, who was the eldest sister of the current family head, had two daughters indeed. They were lost decades ago.”
After hearing what she said, Kevin knew there must be a story behind it. He quickly asked her about it.
Hayden did not hide it from him. She told Kevin everything about the Fishers’ family history that she knew.
After listening to it, Kevin immediately took out his phone and called his mom. After his mom answered the phone, he asked her, “Mom, what’s Mrs. Stone’s maiden name?”
“Mrs. Stone’s maiden name? Why are you asking this all of a sudden? What does her maiden name have to do with you? Pursue your wife in Jensburg and stop all this nonsense.”
“Mom, I’m pursuing my wife, but your future daughter-in-law is a tricky one.”
Hayden was speechless as she listened while across from Kevin.
Kevin’s mom knew what he did in Jensburg.
