Hunter, realizing his words, hurriedly continued, “Honey, it’s the alcohol’s fault. There must be something wrong with the drinks. Celine and I behaved like that because of the alcohol. You arranged a banquet tonight and someone must have tampered with the drinks.
“It’s that person, her name’s Liberty, right? She is the descendant of your sister. Many people say you’ve caused your sister’s death, and she’s here for revenge, to retaliate against you. She doesn’t want your life to be easy. She knows you cherish Celine the most, and since Celine isn’t our biological daughter, she designed it to affect both of us and strike at you.”
Belinda knew there was a problem with the drinks.
She sneered, “Liberty didn’t touch the drinks from the moment she entered until she left. How could she have schemed against you and Celine? Hunter, even if you two were drugged, it couldn’t have been Liberty’s doing, even though I knew she came to Jensburg for the sake of the Fisher family.
“I may be old, but I’m not senile. If you want to push this onto Liberty, it won’t work. Tonight, besides Liberty, there was also Mr. Hayden and Mr. Kevin. They were all present, and so were many others from the family.
“Don’t talk about Liberty. You can’t find a scapegoat even among the Fishers. The one who brought you the meal was Celine. She also brought you a bottle of unopened wine but the wine you drank was from Adrian.”
“Did Adrian scheme against you?”
As the analysis turned to their eldest son, Belinda’s face became even more grim.
Hunter was also shocked.
He did not expect his eldest son to plot against him.
It seemed implausible. Adrian was his first child, and when Hunter first became a father, he had a special affection for the firstborn. Additionally, his son carried his surname. His love for his daughter was meant to foster a good father-daughter relationship, anticipating more benefits for the family when his daughter ascended.
Sons, however, were his most beloved, bearing his surname Clark to carry on the legacy of the Clark family.
“Adrian didn’t need to do this.”
