That kind of fear was something Zachary only wanted to experience once; he would not want to go through it a second time.
“What happened to the Fisher family?”
Serenity asked, adding, “I’m awake now and can’t sleep for a while. Tell me about it.”
Zachary leaned in, kissed her on the face, and then playfully poked her lips while smiling. “I’m afraid it will dirty your ears. It’s not a good thing, well, at least not for the Fisher family. But for us, their misfortune is our good fortune.”
Seeing her interested expression, Zachary whispered a few words in her ear, making Serenity’s eyes widen.
She looked at Zachary, somewhat incredulous.
Zachary nodded and said, “Kev described it that way. He even witnessed the scene, and he said he was so shocked that his eyeballs almost fell out. It took him a while on the ground to find and pick up his fallen eyeballs.”
Serenity burst into laughter, “Your description... Kev isn’t here but if he were, it would be strange if he didn’t want to smack you.
“Clark is the surname of my grandaunt’s husband, isn’t it? If Celine is their adopted daughter, treated as their own before the truth came out, and given their deep father-daughter affection, they wouldn’t do such a thing.
“Who is manipulating all this behind the scenes? Isn’t there usually an assistant beside the matriarch, especially a capable one?”
Zachary explained, “There’s no doubt they fell into a trap. Besides a member of the Fisher family, there’s nobody else who could be the mastermind. It must be someone who resents Celine and holds a grudge against Mr. Clark, someone who wants to bring them to ruin, even if not to death, at least hoping they suffer greatly.
“This person also needs to understand Madam Fisher’s temperament, knowing that she can’t accept this outcome. Regardless of whether Mr. Clark and Celine are innocent, Madam Fisher can’t accept it and will take action against both.”
