Dangerous Love: You Are My One and Only Bride novel Chapter 1899

Melissa was the type who always pushed things to go as festive as logically possible. She leaped to her feet and raised her cup, “Yo, everyone! Let’s toast to Cindy becoming my cousin-in-law!”

The crowd answered enthusiastically with their cups in the air and a roar—except Raven, who remained seated. “I have a sickly constitution. I can’t drink. I’m sorry.”

Her smile was so mechanical, her face too ashen. Something flickered in Arianne’s eyes before she replied, “Sure.”

After the revelry faded, Arianne steered her wheelchair to the courtyard. The outward appearance of the Tremont Estate seemed to have frozen in time, which was why being here made her feel so… safe.

Of course, that was despite Henry and Mary’s passing. In the end, time passed and things changed, characters and objects came and went, and all these missing years left lingering regrets in their wake.

Arianne espied the silhouette standing alone at a distance and approached her, sighing, “Nothing beats being home.”

Raven froze, before turning to face her. “Uh, hi…”

Arianne flashed her a smile. “Sit down. We can talk.”

The invitation uneased Raven, but she sat either way. “S-Sure, I guess.”

Arianne had always been good at judging characters. She could tell that the young lady before her liked her son. The thing was, this one did not incite even a mote of favor from her—Arianne wondered if it was because she bore the surname “Leigh” like a certain person before. Besides, there was only one daughter-in-law in her mind, and it was Cynthia West.
