Darling, Don't Get Rid of Me novel Chapter 41

Harriet's eyes dimmed when the phone rang in the car.

Harriet asked Molly to go back to the studio first, and then she got off the car halfway and waited for someone by the roadside.

She pressed her cap extremely low in such hot day, kicking the stones on the roadside boringly. After a while, a black car stopped slowly in front of her.

"Miss Clark, get in the car."

Jack got out of the car and opened the car door for her. The cold air in the car relieved the burning sensation in the scorching sun.

Harriet unconsciously tightened the strap of her bag and froze for a second before getting on the car when she spotted the man in the backseat.

Wesley questioned her once she sat down, "You want to ask Jack for a dinner? Jack is here now, where are you going to have the dinner with him?"

Harriet retorted calmly, "Aren't you on a business trip?"

"This is not the excuse you trouble me."

"Isn't the trouble you set for me?" Harriet carefully watched him. "I just said some words that annoyed you and you just bullied me like that?"

Wesley's brow furrowed a little, "I have warned you to keep your nose clean in the crew."

"You really fabricated the rumor?" Harriet shouted sullenly, "I have explained it to you that Bryant and I have nothing between us, Wesley Smith!"

"What did you call me?" The man looked at her coldly.

She always called him Mr. Wesley or boss respectfully in the past three years, but she had done a lot of stuff against him and even called his full name directly.

Harriet stared angrily at him, "Wesley Smith, aren't you called Wesley Smith? As the CEO of Pop Culture Group, you did such shameless matter, making up rumors... ah..."

Harriet exclaimed with pain, with her wrist firmly buckled.

Wesley told her with his powerful eyesight, "Did you not know what was good for you as I used to be too kind to you? Who gave you the guts to judge me?"

Harriet gritted her teeth and said stubbornly, "I am not a docile girl. You can leave me alone and find plenty of obedient girls in the art academy."

"I think you cannot fell the pain unless there is a knife on your neck."

Wesley got colder eyesight, "I reckon that you made me feel more comfortable when your brother was unconscious in the hospital."

"What are you going to do?"

"It's hard to let the unconscious person recovered but it's easy to put a healthy person in the hospital. Jack, did you get it?"

"Wesley Smith!" Harriet's face was pale and she bit her teeth into pieces for the warning from him. She finally gave up struggling and said with forbearance, "Mr. Smith..."

Wesley threw away her hand impatiently and leaned back on the back of the seat again, looking at the windshield in front without any emotion, "Stop here."

The car stopped slowly at the most prosperous business district in the city center.

"Get off."

The cold words echoed in the car.

Harriet clenched her fingers tightly and the joints were all whitish. She got out of the car quickly.

She was actually planning to speak softly with Wesley just like before to coax him whether he was the culprit or not, so that he could help her fix the rumor. But she did not know why she couldn't stand thinking of all the grievances of these days when facing him. She lost her control totally.

The sun was burning like a fire in the afternoon, she stood on the side of the road still wearing the cap and the mask which made her sweat soon but her heart was cold.

When thinking that Wesley threatened her with Colin's safety and required her to be as docile as before, she felt extremely distraught and her stomach was tumbling over and over again.

The car had been driving far away from the main city and there was deep silence in the car.

Jack glanced at the rear-view mirror and carefully said, "Boss, why don't you explain the rumor?"
