When Allen came back home, he asked Louisa to the living room.
“What’s the matter with you lately? Who do you hang out with every day?”
Louisa looked reluctant and said, “You do not need to care about me.”
“Is this the way you speak to me? What do you mean I don't need to care about you? I can image what you will do if I do not care.” Allen shouted angrily, “If you carry on doing that, we will be humiliated by you!”
Louisa glared at his father, “You just care about your fame, but what about me? Is your daughter a trading tool? I don’t like Wesley anymore, so why should I marry someone I don’t like!”
Sandra on the upstairs heard their shouting and hurried down to persuade her, “Louisa, calm down please. Didn’t you like Wesley before? Why did you change your mind?”
“I haven’t changed. I always took Wesley as my brother, but you all think that I love him. And it’s all your decision!” Louisa shouted, “Anyway I won’t marry him. And I already have a boyfriend and I will get together with my boyfriend!”
Allen was unbearable. Thinking of the gossip about his family and Louisa’s politeness, he could not bear to raise his hand...
He gave her a slap across the face.
“I know how many men you’ve been out with all these years!” Allen shouted at Louisa, “If Wesley is willing to marry you, you should be grateful! So you have to get married with Wesley. Otherwise, I won’t be polite to you!”
Hearing her father’s words, Louisa felt very sad.
“All of you have changed! Since you are so fond of the Smiths’ things, it's better to have another daughter and make use of her as you like!”
Louisa shouted and went outside angrily.
Sandra was both anxious and distressed, “Allen, how can you beat Louisa? She is your daughter.
How could you get mad at her when she gets back? Besides, she’s so young that’s why she resisted. We should try to persuade her as much as possible.”
Allen was very angry and shouted at his wife, “It is you who make Louisa become more and more thoughtless. Before she more or less listened to our admonition, but now what is she going to be? If she does not change, the Smiths would break off their marriage.”
Sandra felt worried. Did Wesley want to cancel the marriage? How could he do that?
Then, she hurried to catch up with her daughter. Perhaps her husband was right. They could not let Louisa continued to do something wrong.
Louisa sobbed all the way to a small independent house in the suburbs
It was Louisa who chose the house as their home. And it was far from the city center so that it would not be discovered by her family.
Seeing Louisa being so sad and a palm print on her face, Colin felt distressed and angry.
“Louisa, did they bully you again?” Colin guiltily stroked his girlfriend’s red and swollen cheek. “Otherwise, I will go to your house today and tell them not to force you anymore.”
Louisa shook her head, “It’s no use. My parents are old fogeys. Or we’d better elope, and don't let them find. what’s more, I have enough money!”
Colin hesitated. Of course, he wanted to go away with Louisa. But he really knew it was hard for Louisa’s parents to agree with their marriage. Besides, he could not leave with Louisa and did not care about his sister.
