Chapter 1
“Don, our home is being robbed…” Gisele Meyer huddled behind the curtains, clutching the phone tightly.
Outside, three men were closing in on her. Gisele could hardly breathe. “Dorian, please save me. Save our baby.”
She had already informed her husband, Dorian Jefferson, that it was their third wedding anniversary that day and that she had planned a surprise for him.
But instead of Dorian, she was faced with three menacing men who had abruptly barged in!
Gisele trembled with fear, her body as cold as ice. She was barely able to maintain her composure as she cleverly evaded them. Yet, she still ended up cornered in the storage room upstairs.
“What is it again?” A man’s impatient voice came through the phone.
“Don, there are men ro- “Before Gisele finished her sentence, the line went dead.
Gisele listened to the busy tone as she clutched a piece of paper in her hand. When the call ended, she dropped it as if her energy had drained.
It was a medical report indicating that she was four weeks pregnant.
“Damn b*tch!”
Gisele didn’t have time to think. A burly man grabbed her by the hair and yanked her to her feet. “You’re a sl*ppery one,” he growled.
Gisele winced in pain; her scalp felt like it was about to rip. Before she could scream, she was flung hard onto the bed. The burly man grinned hideously as he unzipped his pants.
One of his accomplices seemed somewhat hesitant and pulled the burly man back.
“What are you afraid of? Do you think she’s Mrs. Jefferson? Come on, Dorian has only been here a few times in the past year.
“How many people in Hearthfield even know that she’s his wife? Look around–the whole villa is deserted.” The burly man snorted, looking fearless.
Gisele could taste blood in her m*uth. Indeed, it seemed that her status as Mrs. Jefferson
wasn’t solid enough that even an intruding burglar could freely insult her.
After the burly man finished speaking, he snapped a switchblade open. Casually, he began to toy with Gisele’s clothes.
Frozen, Gisele looked at the burly man. It seemed like she had run out of energy to resist.
The burly man cursed under his breath. Gisele was pretty he had to give her that.
Her eyes were like shimmering pools, and her skin was so pale that his handprint stood out in stark contrast to it. Her nose and l*ps were like those of a fairy in a painting.
The timid way Gisele glanced at him almost captivated him.
He had never known that Gisele had such a side. It seemed that the job was worth it!
The next second, Gisele’s body suddenly jerked up, and the tip of the knife plunged into her chest. Bright red blood splattered everywhere!
The wound was close to the collarbone. The burly man didn’t know if he had hit a blood vessel. He panicked and tried to withdraw the knife!
He had been hired to rough Gisele up, but he had never meant to kill her.
In a split second, Gisele grasped the knife and switched its angle, thrusting it into the nurly man’s thigh.
Blood gushed out, and the burly man cursed in pain. Gisele had hit the femoral artery right
in the center.
“You’re dead meat, b*tch!”
Gisele rolled out and climbed onto the window ledge in one swift motion.
They were on the second floor. But the Jefferson villa had a spacious open–concept design on the first floor, with ceilings nearly 16 feet high.
The distance from the window to the ground was comparable to that of a typical building
with three or four stories.
“Bitch, don’t try to threaten me! Why are you still acting like you’re Mr. Jefferson’s faithful wife? In his family, you’re treated worse than a dog. Nobody cares if you die!” The burly man started yelling his head off. He didn’t seem to care who was around.
It was as if Gisele was the intruder there.
Because no one would come to rescue her.
For three years of their marriage, she had been “shelved” because one of the housekeepers

had reported to Dorian’s grandfather, Declan Jefferson, about her marriage with Dorian.
The housekeeper had been fired a few months ago. But Dorian.
Gisele took one last look at her phone.
She messaged Dorian: “It’s true. Someone is robbing us!”
Dorian replied: “Are you done messing around?
Apart from that, he said nothing else. Gisele closed her eyes.
“Oh my God! That woman really jumped! There’s so much blood!
“Boss, she got your artery. We can’t let you bleed like this!”
“With that much blood, that stinkin‘ b*tch is probably a goner.”
Gisele could no longer hear anything as she plunged into darkness. Next to her, the pregnancy report was stained with blood.
The only thought running through her mind at that moment was about her baby. She thought, “My baby… I’m sorry.”

When Gisele woke up, everything was white before her, and she had an IV drip attached to
her hand.
“Gigi, how are you feeling?” As soon as Angie Abbott, Gisele’s friend, saw the latter wake up, her face filled with concern.
Angie had been Gisele’s best friend since high school. Apart from Gisele’s grandmother, Angie was the only person in the world who would think of her.
“I was supposed to get herbs from you today, but I couldn’t reach you. Lucky for you, I went to your house to look for you…
Angie’s voice quivered as she recalled the sight of Gisele drenched in blood. Her head. buzzed, and she felt dizzy.
“Thank goodness the wound isn’t deep. There’s a slight fracture on your foot, but the baby… The Jeffersons have been pressuring you for years to have a child, and now that you finally…
“The baby wasn’t supposed to come into this world anyway,” Gisele said, her eyes slightly vacant. When the pain reached its peak, it became less intense.
She had narrowly escaped death, but Dorian hadn’t even sent her any messages.
Chapter 1
“That scumbag, Dorian, still hasn’t answered his phone. He’d better be dead, or else! ” Angle touched the red marks on Gisele’s face, her eyes full of anger.
At that moment, the TV in the hospital room aired a breaking news segment. On the screen stood a tall figure. It was Dorian.
He stood beside an elegant and noble woman. The two made a dazzling pair, like a fairytale prince and princess come to life.
