“Madam Gisele, that soup… You’d let / slammer for quite some time. It’s nicely done now. 

What a shame to pour it out. 

“Mr. Dorian will be back at the manor today. The lentil soup would be nourishing for hist delicate stomach,” Jessie spoke quickly, then cleverly muted the call and showed her phone 

to Dorian.

“I won’t be going back to Jefferson Manor anymore,” Gisele said.

worried. 

Gisele had been barely 19 years old when she had married Dorian. At that time, her face had.

“Madam Gisele…” Jessie didn’t know what else to say. 

Dorian grabbed a tissue and wiped the corner of his m*uth. Then, he furiously tossed it onto the table, holding back his pent–up frustration. “Tell Gisele that if she doesn’t come back-” 

“One last thing. Please tell Mr. Jefferson not to make things difficult for the Meyers. He’s been eating the meals I prepared for three years. Please consider it my request that he show them mercy.” Gisele finished speaking and hung up the phone. 

Dorian’s unfinished message got choked in his throat. 

The dial tone sounded from the other end of the line, while Jessie remained frozen, holding the phone. Did Gisele mean that Dorian had been living off her for three years?

“Not a word about today to Grandfather,” Dorian said before closing the study door. 

Jessie nodded repeatedly. 

For the next three days, Gisele didn’t set foot inside Jefferson Manor. Whenever Dorian came home, he never caught sight of her. His expression grew gloomier with each passing day.
