Dear Ex Wife Please take me back novel Chapter 46

Rage.

I feel it as he stands behind me, and it burns hotter than the car in front of me. I'm afraid, but i’d be lying if I didn't say I wasn't feeling better.

I don't flinch when I hear Alex curse behind me, though I feel his presence like a storm crashing into my back.

For a moment, I can’t take my eyes off the flames eating his precious car, the same way he’s been eating away at my soul since the day we married.

My memories have started returning, and most of them have been good until two months ago. I shouldn't blame him, though. I signed up for this.

But when he starts dictating who I can talk to and start burning my things, that’s where I draw the line.

His hands are on me before I can move, spinning me around so fast I almost stumble.

“Why did you do that, Athena?” He asks, his eyes dancing in fury.

I tilt my head, offering him a sweet, cold smile that doesn’t reach my eyes. “ Can you take a lucky guess?”

His jaw tightens so hard I swear I hear his teeth grind. His hand snakes around my throat as he steps forward while I step backward until my back hits the wall, pinning me between it and this bastard.

“I could snap you in half.” He growls.

“Don't let me rain on your parade.” I snap back.

His hand is not hard enough to hurt, but it's hard enough to keep me in place.

His scent, dark and musky, hits me hard, wrapping around me as his chest rises and falls, his breathing ragged like he’s fighting himself.

“Tell me Athena,” He brushes his hand on my cheek, and I shudder, “Did you enjoy seeing my car burn to ashes?” he whispers in my ear with his face close enough that his minty breath dances over my skin.

I swallow.

“You shouldn't have touched my things!” I bite out, impressed with how strong my own voice sounds.

He pushes harder into me, and now we're chest to chest. It's only now when I notice that he's barefoot, shirtless, and only wearing his sweats and man. I've never been so turned on by feet in my life.

Alex doesn’t even try. Everything seems to be perfect about his body. Maybe that's why he has an ugly personality.

“You will pay for that car. And you won't like how.” He warns, and my heartbeat accelerates.

I don't know if it's from fear or from how close he is.

Not having any come back, I pock at him instead, “Never knew I'd see the day when the clean freak would step outside bare feet.”

He looks down at his feet as If only realizing what he'd done when a sick smile stretches his face, “Will you look at that, Athena King has been making me do stupid shit lately, haven't you love?”

“I'm Athena Dawson, and I'm not your wife.”

He smiles, “looks like Athena isn't only a mental case she's also a liar.”

My throat bobs as I swallow, but I don’t back down.

“Seems like I’m not the only one losing my mind,” I whisper, lifting my chin, trying to sound braver than I feel.

His eyes narrow slightly, that dangerous smile still twisting his lips, but there’s a flicker of something darker in his gaze, something I can’t quite read.

“Oh, I haven’t started losing my mind,” he murmurs, leaning in until his nose brushes against mine, and my breath catches. “But if you want to see me lose it… keep going.”

His hand slides from my throat to my jaw, tilting my head up to him, his thumb grazing over my skin like he owns me.

I try to move my face away, but he tightens his grip as he holds me.

“Let's divorce.” I blurt out, “So you can be free, and I can be free-”
