Dear Ex Wife Please take me back novel Chapter 48

ALEX

I drum my finger on the table as I watch Athena. She just laughed at something Noah said, and I already want to rip her off that chair.

I've always had control of everything, but this woman seems to be proving me wrong.

From the way I Itch to touch her soft skin to the way my heart boils at the mention of divorce from her lips.

This is wrong. These thoughts are wrong. I shouldn't feel this way for a woman I'm bound to leave.

A smile threatened to stretch my lips at the memory of how hot she looked when she challenged me. She burnt my car simply because I burnt her stupid outfit, and I must say it shocked me that wasn't upset about it. Especially when it's my favorite car.

“Right Alex?” Leah's voice reaches my ears and I turn to face her, not knowing what the fuck she said.

“Right.” I respond nonchalantly but can't help but wonder what the hell I just agreed to when I see a flicker of hurt in Athena’s eyes.

She avoids my gaze and bites her bottom lip.

That damn lip drives me crazy.

I want to bite on it when I don't even know when I started getting attracted to her.

What the Fuck is wrong with me?

She lifts her chin like she’s ready to fight me, and for some reason, it makes something twist deep in my chest.

I shouldn't care. I shouldn't. I repeat the words like a chant hoping they'll clear my head but damn it, nothing goes as it should

Athena reaches over and grabs my glass. I hate it when people touch my things. But for some reason, I can't seem to get angry at her. Actually, I'm intrigued as I sit back and watch her take a sip from my drink leaving a dent of lipstick on it.

“What is wrong with you Athena? Alex hates what you just did, do you want to get a rise out of him?” Leah's angry tone remarks.

But Athena is unfazed as she holds my gaze, a smile playing on her lips,

“I don't see him complaining. Do you Noah?” She turns and smiles at him.

My cousin seems to be equally in shock but recovers and masks his face again.

He has King blood, so I know what is going on in that head of his and just the thought of it makes my blood boil.

Leah shifts beside me, running her hand over my arm, the touch is light like she's considering the risk of touching me.

She's right to, because I hate it. But I allow her.

"Alex, you’ve been sitting here all night. Dance with me?" she purrs, loud enough for Athena to hear.

I clench my jaw. I don't want to dance. I don’t want to touch Leah. But when I see

Athena, the urge to get her the fuck out of my system grows.

"Okay." I bite out, standing up so suddenly my chair scrapes loudly against the floor.

Leah beams, latching onto my arm as we move to the dance floor.

But I can’t even focus on her. My eyes stay locked on Athena as Noah leans closer, saying something that makes her smile wider.
