Presents?
Eileen turned to look at Rosalind, her mind flashing back to that expensive ring from before.
Eileen wanted to decline, but Josephine was already up and pulling her hand, leading her straight to the dining room.
Glancing at the table, Eileen was met with a mountain of gift boxes of all shapes and sizes.
Eileen's eyes widened as she asked, "This many?"
Josephine casually picked up a box, "You're 20 now, so you should have at least 20 gifts. This one is from me, take a look"
Eileen took the box, carefully unwrapping it to reveal a luxury designer bag.
A super, super expensive designer bag!
Holding the bag, Eileen felt like she was holding 100 grand cash, it was way too heavy.
Josephine picked out another box, "This one's from Albert. He didn't tell me what he got you, why don't you take a look?"
At this point, Albert came over, smiling, "Eileen, I assure you, my gift is very practical."
Practical? Could it be a watch or something?
Eileen hesitantly opened the box and pulled out a pair of nunchucks.
Both Eileen and Josephine were taken aback.
Albert laughed, "Practical, right? I've seen your fight videos, you could use some work on your arm mobility. Practicing with nunchucks can really work out those forearm muscles."
Eileen, holding the nunchucks, was silent for a moment, before managing to say, "Thank you Mr. Reed, I'll work on my arm strength."
"Forget him!" Josephine quickly snatched the nunchucks and tossed them aside, handing Eileen another box, "This one's from Isabel."
Upon hearing her name, Isabel was ready to rush over, but she was held back by her grandmother.
Confused, Isabel looked back at her grandmother.
Her grandmother Rosalind sighed, patting her granddaughter's head, "Let's not go over there, it seems Eileen doesn't like us very much."
Isabel was taken aback, anxiously asking, "Why doesn't she like Isabel? Isabel is good!"
Rosalind shook her head. She had noticed her daughter avoiding her several times tonight.
Egbert, who had overheard, frowned, "That's not what she meant…"
"Egbert." Rosalind suddenly interrupted Egbert, asking, "Does she know the truth?"
Egbert hesitated, then lowered his head.
Seeing Egbert's expression, Rosalind understood.
She gave a bitter laugh, saying, "So she does know. Did you tell her?"
Egbert shook his head and replied, "It wasn't me."
Rosalind was taken aback, "It wasn't you?"
Then it dawned on Rosalind, "That time, you deliberately told her the price of the ring, you wanted her to find out…"
Egbert looked towards the dining room, saying lightly, "She would have looked it up."
"So she knows now." Rosalind shook her head, "That's why she's been avoiding me…"
Egbert remained silent.
Rosalind continued, "She's very smart. It's only been a month, yet she found out. She's got great judgment, like when she was on that variety show, Haunted Chronicles. She was the only one who could solve the problems that none of the other guests could. And she even knows how to do electrical welding."
Egbert remained silent.
Rosalind was on the verge of tears, "She must have been through a lot to know how to do electrical welding…"
Seeing his elder crying, Egbert handed her a tissue.
Rosalind took the tissue, cleaning her tears.
Just then, Eileen and Josephine returned. Seeing Rosalind crying, Eileen froze.
"Oh my, what happened?" Josephine quickly went over, supporting Rosalind by the shoulder, trying to soothe her, "Rosa?"
Rosalind shook her head, a bitter smile on her face, "It's getting late, Isabel and I should be going."
Josephine quickly said, "It's too late now, stay over for the night."
Rosalind shook her head, "No. We've intruded enough…"
"There's no intrusion…"
"It's not safe to go out at this hour." Eileen suddenly spoke up.
Rosalind was taken aback, immediately looking at her daughter.
Eileen then looked at Rosalind, whose eyes were red.
She hesitated for a moment, then said softly, "My lady, may I ask you a question?"
Rosalind was taken aback. She quickly passed Isabel to Josephine, stepped forward and grabbed Eileen's hand, "Of course, anything!"
Eileen bit her lip nervously, then looked up at the elegant and dignified lady in front of her.
After a long hesitation, she finally asked, "Are you my mother?"
Rosalind's voice was a bit hoarse. She choked back tears and said, "What do you think?"
The expression on Eileen's face was complicated, "We look so much alike, it's hard to deny. And I also asked Malloy Carl, he said he was surprised when he saw your face..."
Rosalind looked at her daughter's eyes and nodded repeatedly, "Then would you..."
Eileen closed her eyes and interrupted her, "But I still find it hard to believe! When did you and my dad meet? You're very beautiful, but I don't believe my dad would cheat... He was still with Sarah..."
Everyone was silent.
"Wait..." Rosalind was about to cry, but now her tears were stuck.
She looked at Eileen difficultly and asked, "The dad you're talking about, is he Nathan Howard?"
Eileen looked up and said seriously, "Of course, I can believe I have another mom, but do I also have another dad? I only have one dad, Nathan, and he's supposed to be your lover, right?"
Rosalind was speechless.
"Eileen..." Josephine tried to speak, hoping to help explain.
But before she could say anything, she heard Rosalind shout, "What did you call me? You called me mom?"
With that, she rushed forward and hugged Eileen tightly!
Josephine was a bit embarrassed, no, that's not the problem...
Albert now really felt sorry for his old friend, Derek.
It was Derek' daughter's birthday, and his wife didn't invite him. Now after a brief chat, he was treated like an outsider?
Albert seemed to have figured it out, Rosalind might have planned to divorce Derek Lopez long ago.
Albert wasn't sure about Derek's current situation, whether he was already separated from his wife and child.
