I lost track of time by the cliffs, which is always easy for me to do. But when the sun started to fade and the moon grew in strength, I started to feel both Alora and Father pushing on my mindlink, eager for me to come back,

“Kaia, please come join us!” Father pats the seat next to him as Freya walks in with a tray of drinks. She had been amazing in the efforts in tidying up and had spent most of her time in the hospital. In fact this was the first time I had seen her in days. She had been assigned a house to herself, giving her space as Alora stayed here. 

But she was looking tired, she had been blocking out her mate bond, something that wasn’t suggested for long periods of time. What she was doing was for Alora, I just hoped Zane would understand when they were reunited. 

“What’s going on?” I question as I take a drink and sit next to Father, looking at everybody else’s expressions. 

“We are just waiting for another….ah there you are.” 

“Apologies Alpha, I came as soon as I could.” The Head Doctor walks into the sitting room after letting himself into the house. 

“I have asked the good doctor here over as he has news…is that right?” 

“Yes Alpha. Well as you know I ran a match between you and Miss Alora and can confirm that you are an eligible donor..” 

No, this can’t be happening. 

“Excellent news, and my daughter can continue to live with 1 organ?” 

“With medication and a well thought out recovery plan, yes Miss Alora should be able to live a happy and full life.” The doctor beams out at my father. 

My eyes scan the room, was this really happening? The only person looking at me being Hector, he was gaging my reaction and I his. He was her mate, surely he would say something against this. 

Now, we have a short window, being a beta down, where we can have both myself and Alora out of action. For security purposes, Alpha Hector and Alpha Jude have offered to approach the Shadow Rock pack in an attempt to smooth out the negotiations… buy us some time before another attack. 

During this time Kala, you will be the only one responsible for the pack’s safety.” 

“With that in mind, I have asked my Beta, Ezra, to attend this pack, to aid Kaia whilst you are in recovery…”

“Thank you Hector, that would be a great help…” 

“Doctor how quickly can we move on this?” 

“Our medical provisions are low but I did put aside some supplies as you requested Alpha. With both parties giving their consent my team and I can have things prepared with 24 hours notice…” 

I listen to their conversation as if I were not even present, spying somehow as a fly on the wall. My eyes look to Alora who seems just as shocked as me by this turn of events. 

“Speak up, say something!” I mind–link her. I can’t believe Hector would side with Father on this, the 1 person I at least expected to disagree. Yet he had already been having private discussions, making arrangements to visit Alpha Marc in my place. 

“I told you I didn’t want this.” She quietly speaks up against Father and the Doctor.

“I told you no more machines, no more medical tests…” 

“Let me do this for you Alora, let me make up for the mistake I made believing you were dead. Letting my own grief of Aliki take me to a dark place that I failed you back then…” 

“Father…” I seethe out. 

“No Kaia, I robbed you of your twin sister….your mate connections are a mess because raised in different packs. You both need more time, and I need my daughters by my side if we are going to

I shake my head in disbelief, this can’t be happening.
