I had to leave.
Maybe you could go to college…do what ever you want…you’ve missed out on a lot of time, you can do whatever you want Alora…go travelling…see the world. Find yourself..find who you are without the mate bonds. Like I have.” I talk gently to her, continuing to stroke her hair…letting her know someone was here with her. That she wasn’t alone.
A throat is cleared by the door and I turn to find Hector leaning against it, his eyes falling upon Alora unconscious on the bed before looking at me. His eyes flash to that of his wolf and I can only
imagine what memories he is reliving.
As his eyes find mine, a soft smile enters onto his mouth.
“I’ve been thinking…maybe you shouldn’t be in the theatre during the operation..”
“But I want to be with them, I want to make sure it goes to plan…that I’m there if anything goes wrong.” I sit up right, not liking what he was suggesting..
“The probability of something going wrong is more likely with you in the room.” He cryptically responds. “What do you mean?”
“Your aura, it might put the staff under pressure. They might not be able to think clearly with you in the room. They may make mistakes, wrong decisions, from worrying about your reaction.” His shoulders shrug slightly and I can tell what he says comes from a place of warmth, him trying to look out for both Alora and myself.

As much as it pains me to not be in the same room as them, to be waiting and not knowing what going on. he was right.
I might in a momentary relapse in practical thinking, make an error of judgement that I can’t come back from. That I perhaps shouldn’t be in a situation where I could use my command to make a choice.
I don’t think I could ever recover from that.
