Chapter 0153
Hector POV
I watch in silence, on the sidelines completely helpless as the medical staff try to revive my mate. I don’t know how but they managed to get a pulse back, but she was now breathing only by machines their sterile inhuman tubes coming out of her like a nightmare.
I can’t believe this is happening all over again.
Her body
dy wasn’t as blue now, a clammy grey dullness now taking over her body.
It took all my energy just to remember to breathe, to keep my wolf calm. To trust the doctor, trust the process…even though it is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do….watch from the sidelines as my mate’s
life is in the balance.
You take for granted the simple things in life like breathing, until you struggle to do so and it becomes at battle.
My own lungs trying to drown me as if I was back in the stormy sea, the waves trying to pull me under.
My heart feels as if it is being carved out of my chest. Both my lungs and heart at the mercy of these machines.
“I’m going to move her into intensive care…but alpha she isn’t out of the woods yet. You need to prepare yourself.” The doctor’s voice holds a caution within it.
“Prepare myself for what?”
“That she might not make it through the night…” The doctor’s hand gently lands on my shoulder, his gesture trying to comfort me in what will be the longest night on my life.
“She was in the water for too long…” I groan out, I should have been quicker,
I shouldn’t have waited. I should have known she would have gone there.
“You got to her as quickly as you could. Thank the goddess you found her..that you tried to stop her.”
“Stop her?”
“Forgive me Alpha, I presumed she jumped.” His voice is low, as he turns me towards the hallway…away from the nurses ears.
I was in such a state of shock from the event that it hadn’t even occurred to me why she was exactly ont the cliff tops.
“She jumped?” I can feel the furrowing of my own eyebrows as I ask the question myself.
“I found this by the side of Alpha Beckett’s hospital bed… The doctor quietly murmurs in my ear, pulling out something from his white coat pocket. He reveals the empty syringe that he had held up during the attempts to revive Beckett.
“What was in it..”
“It’s the sedative I gave Alpha…..morphine mixed with wolfsbane to help plerce the skin. I left it out in error

“Beckett was slurring….she begged to give him more. But she either gave him too much by accident or ”
“Or what?” I growl, I didn’t like what he was insinuating
