Chapter 0186
Kala POV
After staying clear of the office, I hear the front door slam shut and Than’s vehicle drive away.
I wasn’t in a hurry to be anywhere near him any time soon, he was odd and I wanted to know more from Alora. It made more sense why she was keen to remain at the Nightshade Reformed pack when I wasn’t there…she was hiding
I head downstairs just as Hector walks out of his office, alone. He doesn’t notice me lingering half way down the stairs, lost in his own thoughts as he cracks his knuckles. His eyes focuses on the door, almost torn between whether to chase after the visitor or not.
I take a backstep, only for the floorboard beneath me to crack, his attention darting fully onto me
His eyes trail up my body, that hunger present in them as always.
A hunger I wanted to melt away with again.
I wanted a repeat of what happened in the office last night, my body walks down the steps towards him. when the front door bursts open.
“What the fuck do you think you are doing?” He roars as Riley runs into the house.
“I’m sorry…I didn’t…it’s Rosa. she’s… The fear in his voice is unmistakable.
“What is it, what’s wrong?” I ask, my body already going into Luna mode.
“She’s gotten worse. She can’t seem to shake the panic attack.” He looks broken and my heart goes out
to him.
“We are coming, give us a minute…” I order at him, his eyes refusing to hold his alpha’s glare.
“You are not going!” He barks at me as his eyes follow Riley’s as he exits the alpha house
“Like hell I’m not. I thought I was her luna?”
“You are!”
“Then she needs help. I knew she wasn’t right, I should have followed my cut instinct and checked up on her.“I angrily reply, the anger only at myself.
“Kaia, I don’t want you going. I will go..”
“Hector…” I start to protest as he grips my elbow, preventing me from moving away from him.
“Let go!” A growl vibrates from my chest, my aura emitting from me.
His eyes search mine, his glare boring into my soul. I will not back down, he’d have to lock me away to stop me from seeing her. Something I think he would be capable of doing.
He’s changed, his demeanour has become cold. no longer playful. But I will not back down. His grey ash eyes continue to glare into mine, before he sighs out releasing my arm.. following behind me
Entering Rosa’s home was different this time, the house was void of any joy.
The atmosphere was tense as soon as Riley opened the door, her sounds of whimpering coming from within. Like a wild animal trapped.
Both their parents were standing above her….watching her as she sat in the comer of the sitting room, as if being backed into the corner was the safest place for her.
“We don’t know what to do, she’s been getting worse Her Mum turns to me, her own face drawn and withered. she hadn’t been sleeping
“Has she been taken to a doctor?” I ask
“She refused to go
“I think it’s time one came here Hector “I turn to him, wanting him to mind–link a doctor here
“One is on the way.” He confirms once he comes out of a mind–link.
“We are at our wit’s end. We don’t know what else to do.” Her Murn continues, her hands pulling at her
hair
“Has she eaten anything? I take a step closer to Rosa slow step I didn’t want to alarm her, to frighten,
her.
“Nothing Whatever we prepare, she refuses to wat
a
“Rosa Rosa it’s Kaia.can you hear me “1 bend down getting close to her, letting her mother stand back. Maybe a different face will snap her out of her internal or with herself
Now that I am closer to her, I fully take in her state. How much has changed in less than 24 hours. She has scratch marks upon her lower and upper arms, self inflicted I presume. Her knees are bent upwards to her stomach…her body rocking back and forward as she mutters inaudible words.
“Rosa can you hear me?” I try again as she continues to rock just back and forth
“Kaia, that’s enough.” Hector warns from behind, not happy with my closeness. But she was too weak to do anything
“Kaia?” Her eyes flicker to mine, Hector having called out my name seemingly helping to snap her out of
her trance
“Hector, say my name again” I shoot back at him, his eyes not leaving Rosa
“Kala
