Chapter 0197
Kain POV
The threat of the Shadow Rock pack had been eliminated for now.
The mass majority were anxious but accepted my terms for peace and somehow, Hector had managed to get the council involved.
I was relieved to hear they weren’t going to charge me with war crimes myself for the attack, and that they were being supportive in monitoring the pack.
In time I would need to attend a hearing to discuss my involvement.
I just wanted to secure the safety of my people, and it feels like Alora and I have finally done that. Finally the Shadow Rock and Nightshade Reformed weren’t at war, our people could finally enjoy some rest.
I have to admit, I don’t think it would have gone as well as it did, had Hector not have been by my side. Maybe being an alpha myself now, I know I can’t be controlled, maybe that is what has changed…
I was looking forward to some respite, to sometime at the Nightshade Reformed pack.
“Kaia?”
“In the office.” I respond to Hector as he calls out my name as he enters the front door. He had been at the Shadow Rock pack again, tasking himself with liaising with the council.
He walks in, his hair messy…he’s been running his hands through it. He does that when he is stressed. His eyes lock on mine, a smile entering onto the corner of his lips. My lips copy his until my eyes sink lower to the holdall bag casually hanging over his shoulder.
My heart sinks, I thought we would stay here for a few more days…not that I didn’t want to go back to the Dark Phantom pack..
“We are leaving…already?”
“No, I am leaving…you are staying.”
“I thought wherever you went, I went?” The delivery of my words are like a joke, but I mean quite the opposite. Standing up, I move around the desk and towards him. I wanted to stay here but why was I hesitant for him to leave without me.
“I need to go check something out.”
“How long for?”
“A night…two nights…I won’t be long.”
“And you’re going alone?” My wolf, she was the one letting the hesitiation wash over me.
“Yes alone.” He chuckles at my reply.
“You worried about me?” He mocks, taking a step closer dropping his bag down on to the floor.
Yes

“No, you’re a big boy, you can look after yourself.” I smirk back at him, placing my hands on the desk.
behind me.
“Where are you going?” A frown forms on my face that can’t hide.
“I’d rather not say..”
“Why…”
“I need you here, safe. I need to check something…and I wont be able to think straight if you are in
my neck. potential danger.” His hands land on my hips, trailing up my ribcage and resting gently around
“I won’t be long…” His lips smash against mine and a form of panic grows from the pit of my stomach. He was about to enter a dangerous situation….alone. What If…mates aren’t meant to be apart. What if he doesn’t return to me…
Was this a kiss goodbye.
My hands leave the desk…locking behind his neck and pulling him down into me…deepening our kiss. I for once instigate my tongue running along his bottom lip.. wanting access.
He moans into my mouth as he grants me access and I taste his minty tongue as it presses forcibly against mine as he now takes control.
His hands run back down to my hips before landing on my ass and lifting me up on the desk. He separates my thighs, his hard groin pressing against me.
It was my turn to moan out loud as I press myself against him..
His lips snap away from my mouth and passionately kiss across my jaw line before his tongue licks across my neck…his lips finding my mark…sucking on my mark. I need to close my legs, I need to stamp out the fire burning within my groin…the sensation growing in my lower core.
But his body is preventing me.
I don’t hear her enter, but Hector’s annoyed growl brings me back from my high.
“For fuck sake.” He whispers under his breath as he hoists me back off the desk.
“Impeccable timing Alora…I’ll let you know when I’m on my way back.”
“Sorry!” Alora mimes to me by the door.
Hector’s lips kiss my mark one more time before he bends down to grab his bag and leaves the office.
Leaves me….
“Do you know where he is going?” I turn to my sister.
